Q:

Changing a 22 to a 257

What parts do I need to do it? And from whom? How about a ballpark estimate of the cost. Where do I get the slugs/bullets?

I want to get into a .257 condor but it seems like a big investment. I even bought a .257 mold and casted a couple hundred rounds for fun. I eagerly await the texan but would like to tweak my condor the most affordable way or just save it for another project.

I now sell the dyotat100 condor parts. I can hook you up and the gun can make around 200fpe using factory breech and tank. Email me at rj-porter@hotmail.com

To do it right, may take a bit of effort to get there but it isn’t beyond the reach of most anyone with determination and patience.
Take some time to invest in research, reading as much as you can and put aside a little bit of money, make friends with others in the community and contribute. You can get there if it something you decide you truly want.
It is truly reachable and probably the simplest way to get into a custom bigbore airgun. Prior to this I was forever trying to win the lottery to get on the buyers list for a DAQ .308!
I am no longer interested in DAQ now that I have an AIRFORCE DYOTAT .257 CONDOR

No idea how complicated it would be. Wow.

You need
.257 barrel liner*- TJ Enterprises
*Requires machine work to turn down the breech end and cut a lead/chamber. Cut to length and polish crown.

Barrel Bushings- Custom Fabricated*
* Requires new bushing that are custom fitted to the frame tolerance and matches the new barrel diameter.

Breech/Bridge- Custom Fabricated*
* Requires that a new breech with larger bore and usually better quality O rings. Usually the breech is machined of acetal or delrin.

Complete Custom Valve assembly- The best .257 specific valve is custom produced by Dyotat100
Bigger valve body, ports, and bigger one piece stem/tophat with shorter stroke and longer duration.
*Carbon Fiber 4500 psi Air tank with 18mm threads for your custom valve is also nice for fills above 3400PSI.

90-140 gram Hammer- also usually custom fabricated and fitted to guide on barrel instead of frame.
10-15# spring

Lymann Ideal 257420 bullet mold

Lee Precision .257 Bullet sizer custom polished out to 1 thou over the measured slug of your actual finished bore

Or RJ’s Custom Accurate Big Bore Airgun Ammo for tailor made fodder.

To do the basic foundation right, expect around a grand for completed conversion.

This is just a vaque example and by no means is to be construed as a complete guide or the last word on how to get there.
RL is offering completed TJ barrels and bushings and an “Extreme Valve” too. But there really isnt exactly a turnkey plug and play consumer off the shelf bolt on solution. As to get the real .257 performance requires some hand fitting and massaging. Most average enthusiasts will require the assistance of either a machinist or a gunsmith or better yet an airgunsmith to really get the best results…
I hope not to discourage anyone…. The Airforce Platform makes for easy entry to this .257 phenom.
