Q:

Changing barrel out on Talon… "How to"

I have a 18″ barrel arriving today which will replace the 12″ barrel my Talon is currently sporting. Is it difficult to swap out barrels?

Thank you in advance for your comments.

What an awesome response! Kudos to Roachcreek for such a detailed explanation. Moneyshot… I will also look for a DVD when barrel arrives from Pyramid. Thank you guys… Gotta love the Forum!

Gregory,

Naw it is pretty easy after the first time.

First make sure the thing is unloaded so you don’t shoot yourself.

Then make sure the gun is uncocked.

Next take out the screw in the powerwheel, then take out the screw in the end cap and remove the end cap if your using one, the talon ss has one but I am not sure if you have one on your talon.

Now remove the forearm and underneath you will find a bushing screw, remove that bushing screw and the other three like it.

The barrel should slide out now. Pay attention to how the power wheel and hammer and spring are arranged on your old barrel.

Replace the old barrel with the new one with the hammer, hammer spring and power wheel on the barrel as you slide it in the frame.

Try to slide that powerwheel in so that the screw hole for it is lined up with the window you removed the screw from.

Replace the bushing screws, tighten the bottom ones first, then the side ones, then put on the forearm. Now line up the powerwheel screw hole by turning the powerwheel. Sometimes you have to use a pick or knife point to move the powerwheel to get the screw hole lined up, once it is lined up replace that screw and your good to go.

Hope this helps.

Roachcreek

its a matter of 4 set screws.

if you got the ss endcap, youll need a regular one or temporarily do without.

they should send ya a dvd showing all basic operations(starring…TOM GAYLORD!), if its new.
