cheap range finder? simmons?
As an airrifle hunter, I will only be ranging things at a maximum of 150 yards maybe 200 yards. Will the simmons range finder be a good investment? If not I am looking into te redfield raider 600A. I know the 600A is the better choice but I am wondering ifthe simmons would work as well at such short ranges?

It has Angle Compensation which is a BIG PLUS for me.
Small price, unlike a Leica which in my option is the best.

Your going to need a battery it doesn’t come with one, CR2 3 Volt Lithium Battery.
I had a secondhand Leica that fell into a dry out lave crack on the Big Island while bow hunting for sheep.
Boy, did that hurt when I could see it but was unable to retrieve it, about 40′ down a 10″ wide crack. 😳
I have a friend that had used Google Earth for years before finally bought that one also.
With known locations he plotted with the ruler function his strategic shooting location(s) with measurements to object all-around the area and printed it out.
It’s free, for a tight ass it can’t get better than that. 😆

I found a Nikon refurbished for $119 on Natchez. I buy reloading supplies occasionally from these guys and they sell a lot of refurbished.

I don’t need no stinkin’ rangefinder for Baby Cricket. Just some good ole LB Kentucky wind-age and a Hawke Sidewinder and an SR Pro. :5: 😛
Oh and targets every ten yards planted into the woods. Two chipmunks this morning…. I have never seen so many on the road in my subdivision as this year. You may see 5 or more just driving out the 1/4 mile from the house.
Mike, I just wrote it on the wall at several places I shoot from, that way I don’t have to remember…..
I got a Simmons that will range to 300 yards, First thing I did was walk around my yard and check all the ranges of my bird feeders , Telephone poles and trees, I get it out sometimes to check my memory of some of the distance,
I do have a photograph memory, I am just out of film at this time, :rofl: :rofl:

That’s the same one I use Coda, they are nice…
I have this one but use it for PDogs and further out as well. Works great even in the rain and through windows. Has an archery mode which maybe more useful for airguns. Frequently on sale but a bit steep. 😛 I think the best feature is the bright orange/red OLED which stands out in very low light. The black ones disappear. Has a lot of features like ballistic ranging. It is a high quality but cheaper alternative to a Leica. Replaced by a 1200 now. See the reviews. My coyote hunting buddy has a Leica 1200 and there is very little noticeable performance difference. It is cheaper because it is assembled in China but US controlled.
I bought this cheap one about 2 years ago and has been working great for me.
