Checking if gun is level?
Where is the best place to check level on a Condor SS. I am trying to get a level on the dovetail but I really don’t think it is accurate? I have a UTG bipod on it. Shouldn’t the bipod make the gun level? Just trying to get my scope perfectly level? Thanks. Bill

You might try this….
Use two levels. Place one on your work bench and one on the floor. Notice where the bubbles are with respect to one another. If the two are the same then your bench or table is level with the floor. If that’s the case great if not then level your table.
Now put one level on the table and with the second, place it on a gun’s rail (for some reason I put my level on the flat part of the frame just in front of the cocking bolt against the scope rail pillar). Now, cant the gun until it matches the bench level. Now you are level with the floor.
Finally hang a plumb line 10 or 15 yards away, focus the scope on the plumb line and rotate the scope until it lines up paralell tor the vertical reticle, while maintaining a level gun frame. Then carefully tighten up while rechecking bubbles for drift. That’s probably about as accurate as you are going to get.

AF guns are hard to level ……. no real level or flat enough spot on the gun.
The rails have a bit of a crown to them which makes laying a level on them problematic ……
You need to tinker around some to figure it out for yourself and what will work for yah the best.
But a good way might be if you have a BKL scope mount use it without the top half of the ring and lay a level across it as a reference to level.

No even with a bipod outside factors effect level. The bubble will get you closest.
I tried the one pictured and it was NO way correct. This was checked with a bubble level layed on the top of the dovetail. Its just hard to read under the scope. Will most guns be level while using a decent Bipod?
This is where mine is. Salt has one close to the same place for field target. Its very nice because you can see the level without having to break your cheeck weld.
you can use the bubble level. one on the gun (you can put it on the rail or put on mounting without the top clamp on), and another one on the scope. use the ring type one on scope and check it with the reticle. i live in apartment so i use other building as a reference line to match my vertical reticle. make sure you put the bubble level as forward on the scope so its easier to see when you aim. any1 else has easier way perhaps?

KP, thanks. That is pretty much what I did. It just seems the reticle is way off when I look through it on the bench. If I just pick the rifle up and look through it looks level? Probably just me? Bill
