Q:

Chrony Choices

I have a F-1 chrony it works correctly less and less. Very sensitive to sun angle so I made a lamp set up to work in the garage. Still very picky, now to the point of not being able to shoot over it without constant Error 1 and error 2 codes. Re did the lamps.
Well, I took it apart and found the front lens scratched on the inside. Buffed it out with some 3-M finesse compound.
Better, at least I got 5 over it before it coded again.

When I buy another which one do you suggest? Why? Where?

My sc light kit fit on my ProChrono perfectly. That was a pleasant surprise. 😀

Pro Chrono hands down. Most of the time I don’t even need the sky screens. I’ve got mine mounted on a tripod, perfect set up.

AND……, it’s made in the U.S.A. 😀

Pro chrony.

I’m on my 3rd one. I Shot my first one. So I bought a light kit when I bought the second one. The building and testing of my .308 was hard on #2. It has been blasted and blown all over the place. I actually had the piece blow out that covers the screen and the buttons. I bought a 3rd one because I got a couple of 34– fps readings back to back. I took the whole thing a part and hot glued the sensors down. They had come loose inside. I’m going to make a enclosure for it for the testing of the .451.

I’m still using #2 I just wanted to make sure it was still good by comparing #2 and #3.

I would by the light kit also. Worth the money.

I noticed that the sensors are recessed deeper into the ProChrono than they are in the chrony. I think that the better performance of the ProChrono is due to this design difference. They appear to be the same sensor. I placed a large piece of clear packing tape over the sensor openings of my ProChrono to keep dust and debris off of the sensors. This makes it much easier to clean. Debris such as dust and paper fragments will decrease the chronograph’s performance.

The better user interface is a result of better engineering…perhaps by someone who actually is a shooter.

Regarding the sc company itself, there are reports of people who have been treated well, and those like me who were not. That individual I dealt with went so far as to say that I was trying to steal from them. WTF! Really? Hmm. I am actually pleased that happened as I am much more pleased with the ProChrono and its usere interface.

I bought the sc because that’s what pyramid stocked and I didn’t know any bettter. Ii was able to figure out what was going on with my airguns with the sc product even though there were many error messages. I thought that it was just me who was getting so many error messages until this became a popular topic. That’s when I realized I wasn’t alone. That’s also when I took a good look at the ProChrono and observed the placement of the sensors.

WOK makes a good point though, without a chronograph, you can imagine your pellets going faster than a speeding train, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound. Look! Up in the sky! It’s, it’s super pellet!!!! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) 😉

Just think how happy you would be if you did not have a chronograph and could just imagine how fast it was going 😀

You can always buy replacement parts for your chrony.

But the Pro Chrono has a really good rep.

Another vote for the Pro Chrono.

Bullets, pellets, arrows. All good.

In short, the ProChrono Digital Model throws far fewer error messages, and it has a 99 shot string capacity. I really don’t like being limited to just ten shots and then having the next shots erase the previous ones. It’s user interface is far more intutitive.

Good Luck!
