I’ve always wondered how the cleaning pellets actually do anything.

If there’s a build up of lead and dirt in the rifling how on earth does a soft little pellet clean that?!

I’d put a few quid on the fact they do hardly anything. Especially when I set about properly cleaning a barrel once as an experiment and it took brushes, thinners and hours of repeating!

I just finished a deal with George from patchworm, I’ll be carrying hid fine cleaning products in all the major calibers

+1 on patchworm and straw method. I clean when I feel like it or simply ifI know that the gun will sit unused for around a week or so.

I clean when it’s new and every 2-3 tins of pellets, or when accuracy seems off.

A patchworm, crownsaver, or a length of weed eater line with a melted/flattened end + a pointed end are used with patches. A straw gets around the moderator/silencer baffles.

I have had good luck using the patchworm.

From my Steyr’s manual:

quote :

To clean the barrel shoot some dry (not greased) felt pellets through the barrel (available at your dealer)

So that is what I do, every 1000-2000 pellets or so..

Always clean the barrel when you receive it from the factory.

Hi!

If you are talking about normal rifled barrels like CZ/BSA or likely i would clean in every 100 pellets or so. Smoothtwist (FX) does not collect led dust at the same rate as normal barrel…i would say i can shoot about 500-1000 pellets without cleaning smoothtwist barrel.
