Clipped the….endcap on the new SS ??
I’m only a few hundred shots into the new SS. I’m working from home today and decided to take a few shots in the back yard. 1st 3 shots… bullseye, .5″ right, bullseye (20yrds). So far so good.
Next target, 1st shot clips the endcap. WTF!!?? God only knows what the pellet hit first but I was in the basement and it never went outside. I heard it bounce back by me. Still looking for the damage.
So, is this something that happens enough to be worried about? and, Is the now oblong opening in my endcap going to affect accuracy? I’ll be ordering a new one anyway I just don’t want to be shooting the thing if I can’t trust it to at least leave the gun in the direction it’s aimed.

Also take a look and see how dirty your barrel is. It might need a good cleaning. 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀
yep, less than 25 shots after removing them
grubs are snug, that’s the first thing I checked (after making sure I didn’t miss any of the o rings/washers) I will investigate further on Saturday.
I will say that my rare opportunity to work from home tempted me to continue shooting. Some good, some just okay target groups. No more shots into the sliding glass door :x. The bad was still better than before I pulled the washers out, and that’s even while being paranoid that I was going clip one THROUGH the glass.
I need a real baffle/shroud/frame extender… maybe someday.

Clipped the end cap and you had no baffles?
That is just wrong. Look at the end of the barrel and see how concentric the ID is with the OD. See if you have any burrs at the crown. Run a Qtip in and out of it and see if it gets snagged at all.
And do what the others say about snugging up the grubs.
I had to drill out my fender washers a little bit. I think that I drilled them out to 5/16″. No problems after that and it is still very quiet. GTBJ is right, check the set screws and make sure that they are snug. I put a drop of blue loc tite on mine. Good luck.
I would double check you barrel bushing grub screws, make sure you haven’t lost any and that they are tight
Funny thing is, I was having accuracy issues so I took the baffles out the other day to see what happened – HUGE improvement so I left them out.

As for the pellet, I think it would have had to be very deformed – to the point it wouldn’t have felt right, but I didn’t notice anything. It is a lillte deformed now though – it hit the frame on my slider, a full 10-12 inches to the right of my line of fire, 15 feet from where I was set up.
Ive never had a pellet clip. Was the pellet deformed in any way before you put it in the gun? Is it a stock SS or do you have baffles inside the frame?

I was shocked at how non-concentric the inner diameter of the barrel was with the outer… it was offset by a noticeable amount, but pellets never clipped.
I own an older version Talon, bought around 2001.
