CO2 adapter problem
i bought a co2 adapter and FILLED 12 oz. co2 tank from PA about 7 weeks ago. when i got around to trying it on my new TalonSS, it wouldn’t fire the tank valve. since i was past the 30 day exchange/refund period but within the AF warranty, i contacted AF and they said send it back for a new one. of note is the fact that a reviewer on PA’s website had a similar problem and apparently the pin within the AF adapter was too short and wouldn’t reach the firing pin in the front of the tank. well, the new adapter arrived today and guess what-same problem!! pull the trigger and nothing happens. i am wondering if PA sold me a tank with no co2. however when i pull the trigger and watch the tophat, it doesn’t look like it moves at all. i have no way to measure the pressure within the co2 tank but i am suspicious that i have any empty tank. i ran the power wheel all the way up and down with no results. i will call PA tomorow but i wondered if anyone had any suggestions??

called AF today and explained my problem and they insisted the striker in their adapter met industry spec as far as length and suggested i try a different brand of tank. went to a paintball store and put the adapter on a new tank and it worked perfectly!!. brought tank and adapter home and they fired my rifle just fine. so now i have tried to reach PA to demand a refund for what are obviously faulty tanks but after spending 30 minutes on hold and then leaving a message 3 hours ago, they haven’t called back. the tanks they sent me are branded as Spyder and the valves look exactly the same as the Extreme Rage tank i bought this morning but something is obviously different. we will see if PA’s customer service really includes service( especially since they agreed to send a tin of pellets free with the replacement tank last week and didn’t do it).
I have two CO2 tanks that initially both worked fine. Now only one tank works and the other is having the same problem you’re havng.
I noticed that the spike on the adaptor seems to have a small concave indentation on the tip. I am assuming this was caused by the CO2 valve pin. Perhaps they are using too soft of a metal.
I contacted AF and was told they have not had any compaints. When I explained that I saw a number of people on forums with the same problem I was instructed to send the adaptor back for inspection and the matter would be addressed. I was also urged to contact anyone else with the same problem and have them call in the same complaint
(877-247-4867).
The woman who answers the phone is always the same one I speak to as I have had to call them a few times. She assured me, if there is a problem, the adaptor would be replaced. Also, if there are a number of complaints and the adaptors are faulty, they would stop production and have to fix the problem before distribution. I’ll let you know what happens when I get it back.
the only way i could get the adapter tighter on the tank is to put it in a vise and put a pipe wrench on the adapter!! there is no gas that escapes when you take the adapter off and the adapter doe NOT contact the brass tank valve. i tried moving the stud that is up inside the adapter but it doesn’t seem to move much if at all. there is just a physical disconnect between that stud/peg and the tank pin valve. when you push on the adapter valve with it connected to the tank, it depresses easily. i wrote a scathing review on the PA website tonight- it will be interesting to see if they publish it. interestingly enough, the last reviewer of the product on PA’s website had exactly the same problem- the adapter stud/striker was not long enough to reach the tank pin valve. AND SO IT GOES!!
Make sure the co2 adapter is screwed all the way down till it stops turning? On mine the last couple of turns required some force to get home! Once the co2 adapter was all the way against the brass on the co2 bottle, I wasn’t able to press the Top haT down to release co2.
When you remove the co2 adapter, some co2 should escape (hiss noise). The Top hat does not touch/push the pin valve on the co2 tank. Look inside the the threaded end and you should see a peg in the center with a hole beside it. This peg/post opens the co2 pin valve and charges co2 into the body of the adapter.
The Top haT valve opens/closes to let/stop gas going into the barrel, behind the pellet. The tank pin valve is always held open when installed to the co2 adapter.
My measuring of the peg height seems to be about 3/32 to 4/32, I don’t have a dept gauge so I use my metal scale.
Seems to me you need to turn the co2 adapter until it stops turning, which takes some force with mine. Then the Top haT won’t move and if you remove it, should hear some gas escape.
BTW: Put some 30weight ND motor oil or Pelgunoil on the tank O-ring, guaranteed to start leaking, when it drys out. Co2 will dry rot O-rings if not lubed, Diver’s silicon wont work here, my co2 leaked using silicon on the tank O-ring!

Dollar if you want ill trade ya my adaptor body for yours….so basically pull the valve and well swap the housings……I only use mine as a thread protector now and I used the hell outta it when I first got my SS because I didn’t have a hand pump or scuba tanks so it was co2 for the first 6 months or so…let me know if you’re interested…..Greg. LIFE IS BAD AGAIN. the new CO2 tank arrived today and there was no free tin of pellets in the box as promised by the folks at PA.. Oh well, that would have been OK but the new tank and the new adapter sent to me previously by Airforce( not PA) STILL won’ t work. I know this tank has CO2 in it- it is obviously heavier than the first tank and CO2 releases if you push on the pin valve. i ran the power wheel all the way up and down with no results. if you manually push on the adapter valve( which by the way IS a 2nd gen Condor valve), it moves but no gas is released. it is as if the adapter valve stem is not long enough to make contact with the pin valve in the tank. any suggestions? i guess another call to PA tomorrow is in order but at this point i am so pissed about wasting $100 and 1 month of hassle time i can’t see straight!!!!!! if push comes to shove i will figure out a way to take the Condor valve off the CO2 adapter and use it elsewhere.
well i called PA today and told them they sold me an empty tank. to their immense credit, they shipping me another FILLED tank, letting me keep the original empty tank( which i confirmed was empty by pushing down on the tank pin valve), AND throwing in a tin of pellets. now that is customer service!!. also called AF and told them the co2 adapter i sent back as faulty was in fact OK and and they are accepting my return as payment for the adapter they had already sent me( which arrived yesterday). so for the $8 it cost me to send back the adapter to AF, i got another tank and a tin of pellets. LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN!!!!!!
No need to take it anywhere really, just press the pin in with something (Screwdriver handle or something similar.)
If CO2 comes out then it’s fine, if it depresses and no C02 then you need to get it re-filled.
It have been known that the pin valves get stuck and that depressing the valve can free it up.
It might be that you don’t have a pin valve but an on/off valve. Basicaly a ball valve on the side of the tank, if it is in the opff position then no CO2 will flow. But if you aren’t sure then post a picture of the valve on the top of the bottle, you don’t want to be turning the burst disk thinking it is the valve.

Take the co2 tank to a co2 filling station and have them weigh it and compare the weight to a known full tank of the same size.
Or take the tank and get a refill of co2, then you’ll know for sure ?

push the pin on the tank manually use the head of some pliers, you may have tank lock.
