Q:

co2 tank pressure

Paint ball guns run at 850 psi….I remember the paint ball dude at the shop sayin that when he charged my tank…..hmmm ,does that mean igot a weak charge on my cylinder ? er ,does that 850 psi turn into 2000psi when it goes through the pisshole in the co2 adapter ?

Yes, Like argusz says it the next post.

But why are the Co2 tanks marked 1800psi?

The tank manufacturer made and rated with DOT approval the tanks to 1800psi allowable working pressure. So if that tank was used for other than CO2 it could be used to the full 1800psi. We use those little tanks for cal gas and they come full at 1500 to 1800psi depending on the gas mix.

CO2 is but one use for those tanks.

Walter….

..and is why co2 is so poular in the summer time 😛 .

In the winter I shoot HP air for the above reasons.

No it does not turn into 2000psi. Guns on CO2 run lower velocity than those on a full fill of HPA.

I realize that ,should the co2 tanks be charged at 2000psi ? when using hand pumps,co2 is pumped to 2000psi and h/p air to 3000…..850psi is what puzzles me.

The CO2 pressure will rise only with temperature. You cannot rise pressure by pumping in CO2. CO2 in tanks is partial liquid partial gas. When you shoot you consume a part of the gas CO2 in the tank. This makes the pressure in the tank to drop, and a portion of the liquid CO2 turns to gas until it reaches the normal pressure for the ambient temperature. The CO2 pressure is around 58bar(841 PSI) at 20 grades Celsius(68 F), and rises with the temperature.

68F= ~841 PSI
77F= ~928 PSI
86F= ~1039 PSI

Yes, Like argusz says it the next post.

But why are the Co2 tanks marked 1800psi?

I dont think you can compare the charging between co2 and hpa, I have both..when my co2 is filled,I think the tank is weighed and stops geting filled when the correct weight is reached..I havent really paid that close of attention but I think that’s how its done..
