Q:

Co2 tank update and HPA question

Well it has been a while since I lasted posted about questions regarding my CO2 tank. As an update, I went squirrel hunting in eastern Oregon this month and the CO2 worked real well as long as the tank was warm at least 86f. Below that is was just too inconsistant on the FPS and the squirrels started to see the pellets and dodged them. I must admit, when the pellets were shot at the proper CO2 pressure, man did they make a bloody mess of them squirrel. Morbide, but in a neat way.

Anyways, I upgraded to a 13ci 3000 psi standard air paintball tank outputting 850 psi. I am getting about 650 FPS with the 14.3 crossman HPs. My question is: Is there a way to increase the tanks psi output to above 850psi? The tank brand is Guerilla Air. Buy the, switching to compressed air is really nice.

Thanks,

JC

You can shim most of the “paint ball” tanks regulators up to any pressure you want. Keep in mind that the factory installed burst disk on the low pressure side of the tank are normally 1.8K so as long as you stay 100-150 PSI below that, the disk will still be a perfect safety. I have run some of these regulators up to 1600 PSI and they have performed just the way I expected. OK, first, obviously dump the tank completely empty. To start with you might just want to add one or two washers inside the regulator, which generally con=me apart by removing the alen screws in the sides of the top part of the assembly. Then unscrew the top, you will fins a bellevue washer stack, or some actually have a spring in them with a washer (shim) or two at the bottom. If it has the bellevue stack, be careful to keep it in the order, and correct orientation for the washers. AKA ((()(())(| something like that, this is just an example. I would start by adding one shim, slowly filling using a gauge attached to the output until it stops moving, indicating your new regulator setting. If all this seems too much, ping HPA expert, or JDS Airman and they will be happy to send you a pre-set regulated bottle. Let me know if you have more questions, and I can try my best to assist.

What is the weight of the hammer?

my talon ss is great on tree rats out to 30 yards with co2 but i use a brass hammer for more power too.

he sell regulators on different output for your tank. http://jdsairman.com/

I have 13 ci tank with 1400 psi output. it shoot jsb 15.9 at 730 psi and 3/8″ at 36 yards with 12″ barrel and get about 30 shots.

if you want more, do some basic valve work, and drill out the existing transfer port in the middle of the adapter, as well as drill a few more.

it’s .22 cal with cp pellets. I use 1500 psi regulator instead of 850 psi on paintball tank. so it shoots around 1150 fps.

oh ok, i forgot about the quick foster, i ask because Dunk 50 was asking about running his ss on hpa with his co2 bottles and set up. he was wondering about performance etc, and what he will need to fill , he is one post down

you might get on there and let him know a few things ,or answer a few questions

Charlie…. What caliber is the talon and what is your FPS? My talon is a .22 and I get about 650 to 675 FPS with most pellets on the hpa with co2 adapter.

Thanks,

I use co2 adapter and 48/3000 psi hpa tank. it works good

It has a foster quick connect on the side and I hand pump it. Real easy with a 13 ci tank.

so how do you fill your paint ball tank, can you fill thru your adapter,or does the shop have a adapter that fits to the paint ball fitting to fill with high pressure air
