Q:

Coating a LDC/Shroud Helpful?

Would coating a LDC with something like “Flex Seal” reduce the sound further? The secondary benefits would be surface protection and some vibration adsorption.

Hey Hoot,

I agree, the Flex Seal stuff just makes it look cool, plus protection from scratches. Otherwise sound levels are the same.

Thanks.

Its’ not the shroud body that generates, or amplifies, noise. It’s the air exhaust from the shroud that is noisy.

Vent your shroud, and relieve some of the air pressure on the existing baffles, that will reduce noise. Six to eight 1.5mm to 2.0mm holes at the rear worked best for me.

The type of baffles is critical. A modified K baffle seems to get the job done quite well. PM Subssonic for info.

I’ve sprayed Dupli-Color Truck Bed Liner on mine. I can’t say it made it any quieter, but it did make it scratch resistant, after it cured for a week or so…and I liked the look very much.

Try a section of bicycle inner tube. Cut it to legnth and slip it over the outside of the shroud. 😉 Tell us what you think.

Interesting thought. I would say it would help some. That is basicly what they do when they undercoat cars. How much would likely depend on how thick. Maybe you could wrap it with some thin foam first to see if that helps any. That way you could at least remove it.
