Q:

Combro Reviews and feedback

I did a search and read some peoples comments about the Combro CB 625 Mk4, but had more questions and wanted feedback from more people that own it. I have a larger Chrono w/ Screens that I use, but have been looking at the Magnetospeed for PB and Combro for AG use.

I like that it seems easy to attach and run, but does it have a shot memory?
Has anyone used the USB cable for this device?
Does this affect POI attached and not attached?
Is accuracy accecptable? and has anyone tried the +/- 1% adjustment to fine tune the device?

thanks in advance,
lars

thanks for all the replies.

Looks like an early xmas… :biggrinn:

I love mine. It’s inexpensive and the customer service is outstanding. I put on a new LCD and the pellet clipped and I hit the Combro and the owner replaced it no charge after I sent it in for repair. Works well, easy to use and doesn’t change POI. For the money, it’s all the Chrony most people will ever need.

I agree with Awny, very easy to use although it feels cheap, it is accurate. Some people use a rubber band to keep it on but I use electrical tape and it stays on pretty firm and does not change POI as Awny had mentioned.

I have a Combro and I like this device. It never leaves my gun case.
The unit is very light and the passage is quite wide. There should be practically no impact on POI.
It does have a serial port (not USB). I have not used it to connect to PC. Mine did not come with cable or software, and I don’t care for it frankly as this is a light portable chrono and that’s where I see its value.
Its quite accurate. The result it gives me is about 1% less than the Chrony (but who knows which one is the more accurate). You can easily adjust/calibrate it by 1% up or down with a resolution of 0.01%.

Hope this help!

Lars,

The Magnetospeed works with .22 pellets above 700 fps with very few problems. I’ve used it a bit at lower velocities. In this case, it’ll work with the right setup.

The unit occasionally throws a “comparator mismatch error,” which means the two internal timers didn’t match. I’ve never seen the mismatch greater than 1 fps. No shot data is lost in this case, but you do have to push a button to clear the message before the next shot.

On the Condor SS I can see no effect on POI. The Condor shroud structure is pretty stiff relative to the weight of the “bayonet.” It’s a different story on the EDgun. The bayonet attach strap is a tight fit between the shroud and the air tube. The strap moves the barrel a tiny bit causing a noticeable POI shift. A thinner strap would probably fix this…

Good luck with it!

Thanks for the replies.

Does the Magnetospeed work with .22 size pellets? I saw on their website that it did not work with that small a projectile. That is good to know since it is on my xmas list. Do you see any POI shift with the magnetospeed?

I did read that post by Old Goat I believe that shot his Chrony at 100yds, dead center. I wanted to see if other users also saw a POI shift, I think OG was using an older EdGun and thought maybe the newer ones had a stiffer barrel assembly that wouldn’t droop or not droop as much.

thanks again,
lars

I think anything on the end of your barrel will cause some kind of poi shift depending on the rigidity of your barrel. In fact I think it’s how someone on this forum shot their way to thee stationary crony at further distance if I’m not mistaken.

Lars,

Don’t know about the Combro, but the MagnetoSpeed works on larger caliber air rifles. I’ve been using one for almost a year now with good results on a .22 Condor SS and a .25 Matador.
