Completely new to Air guns
I need help. Over the past couple years I have become fascinated with air rifles to the point where I’ve decided I need to buy one.
However I have a couple problems.
1. I still kind of view them as “toys” since I (and most of the people I know) grew up with pump bb/pellet guns until our dad’s decided we were old enough and responsible enough to have a .22
2. I “only” have $1250 ish set aside for this. Total including scope, gun, pump/tank, etc. Everything.
3. Looking around for awhile, most of the stuff I see for less than that price looks like junk or at least is 100% not my style, whereas most of the stuff that I would actually let another human being see me using it costs significantly more.
4. I’m not a tinkered or all that handy. Hell, my dad has given me shit for 20+ years now because I pay another man to change my oil. I want a gun that just shoots. I’m not going to buy one of those chrony things, and test things out.
5. I own 7 acres, but on one side of me they just put a development in, and now in the winter when there’s no leaves a couple of those houses can see into my backyard. Last winter I was seen a couple times picking off squirrels from my bird feeder with my .22 (safely and the bullet would need to turn 170 degrees to go towards their development.) But a father came over and told me he wasn’t comfortable with me shooting guns when his kids could be outside. So I need something they won’t hear, that I can shoot from my bedroom window so they don’t see.
6. Has to be able to kill a raccoon at 50 ish yards in my garden.
I’ve always been happy with Bushnell Banners for scopes. So that’s $150-180 ish. Unless i really need an airgun only scope. Everyone seems to say go with the Hill pump if you’re not going to buy a compressor and/or tank. So that’s another $300. Although other brands would save me 100, and air force has refurbished ones for $140.
So my choices that I have kind of narrowed it down to.
A) JKhan Krosa – maybe cheap out a bit on the scope, and get the refurbished bike pump, and then stretch a tiny bit for a gun I like the look of.
B) Airforce Condor SS – get the good scope, the good pump, and a solid gun. Keep everything stock.
C) “Blemished” Airforce Condor – Again can get that cheaper listed on Airforce own site, would probably get it in .22 and then buy a separate shrouded .25 (or even .257) barrel.
I have no idea if any of these are going to be quiet enough that neighbors won’t hear at 70 yards or so.

You didn’t say anything g about a $1000 setup in first post. You should be smart enough to know that you shouldn’t assume others know what you mean.
I’d go for the condor over the jkhan. But if I was on a budget and pumping I would think about finding a gun with smaller reservoir like the mrod.

Benjamin Marauder costs $500 NOT $1000+! You did start this thread looking for advice, didn’t you?
Why would you be spending $1000 plus on a marauder?? half that at the most.
Marauder is too ugly to admit I spent $1000+ on it.
Vulcan costs significantly more than I wanted to spend total, and that’s before any form of air or scope is added.
My limit isn’t how much I can afford, it’s a limit I set for myself on how much I’m willing to spend.
To the guy that sent me a private message about guiding me on the path… that’s just weird. If you can’t put it on the forum for everyone to see, it’s probably not good advice anyways. IMO.
I’m really enjoying the short, easier to handle, 88 shot count, more accurate Vulcan .22.
It cost more but would be worth a little extra time to save for it. Sub 1/2″ groups at 50 yards off of bags is some of my best shooting with less worry about technique. That’s better than I’ve done for years with a 24″ .22 Condor.
Why take up space with a long rifle when a bullpup is very accurate, easy to handle, and doesn’t have to stick out the window where the neighbor can tell that you are shooting the rabid animals that might get to their pets or kids ❓

Benjamin Marauder in .25 caliber! Fantastic gun at a very reasonable price. It will drop a coon at 50+yards with no problem and its “mouse fart” quiet. You say that you’re NOT a tinkerer. You don’t need to be with the Marauder. Mount your glass, fill it up and go shooting. It has an 8 shot rotary magazine, bolt action and is very reliable.

I recently purchased the Noblesse Krosa .25 and it is a bargain bullpup since I got it new in the box for $600 shipped, it is very accurate, extremely powerful, well constructed and sleek looking, easy to cock and comes with 2 magazines. This is similar to the Evanix Rainstorm 2 platform and it is a hunting rifle.
I don’t own a Condor and have never shot one either.
I primarily own PCP’s which consist of FX’s, BSA’s, Marauder, Career’s, Sumatra’s, SPA and Air Arms and this Krosa shoots on par with my other Korean rifles.
I own an electric compressor and the only gun I would think about charging with my Hill pump would be the Marauder pistol. I tried pumping the Krosa and gave up after reaching 1500 psi, it wasn’t fun.

Not hard to do, but I’d suggest looking used over on the Yellow Classifieds.
Scope… 4-12 Banners come and go. I’ve seen them go for $100 when they show up. Should be other offerings with glass just as decent in the $100 range. I own 5 or 6 Banners and to be honest, the glass is on par with the Leapers/UTG/Accushot scopes I have and those, too are found all day long for around $100.
Pump… if you are going to pump, you dont want a Condor. In fact, if you dont like to tinker, you may want to steer away from the AirForce guns. I like them… I own 6 in various configurations. I can tell you that you will have a bitch of a time pumping it and you will most likely need to tinker with it. A good Hill or FX pump should run you $200 or so used. I had the Hill and the FX. I sold my Hill for $150 and kept the FX for a back up for my tanks.
there is a .22 Marauder right now on the Classifieds for $340. They come up fairly often for around that price.
So as I’m figuring it, with a little bit of looking around and being patient, I see a nice setup for under $700. In fact, just a week or so ago, was a Marauder, pump, scope, bipod and pellets to get you started for $620 shipped.
