Q:

Condensation on exterior of tube

Has anyone noticed when shooting with cricket in the cold (16deg) you get condensation in the valve area.
Camera doesn’t quite catch it all. its worse than its pictured here. I was was firing about 2.5 clips in about 15 minutes checking its groups with the AA 25 cal pellets. I have noticed it last year as well when i was out pesting in the cold. The 22 cal does it too.
I do use nitrogen in my guns if that would explain anything

That makes two of us!

quote Sir Ville:

His 15 degrees Fahrenheit is below freezing. Yikes !

yes I knew! I heard the winter arrived to US. I believe the real winter here is coming soon too 🙁 I like summer and hotter weather.

Frigid-friggin’ cold… Eelect, I’m surprised the condensate isn’t frozen. Even if it’s your breath, you’d think it would freeze. That is, unless you’re Swedish or Russian; alcohol freezes at a much lower temperature.
When hunting in the subfreezing, I try to let my gun stabilize to ambient. Otherwise, the change from 65F to “damnbeer’sfrozen” causes erratic poi. Which means no shooting today. I woke up to 12.5 degrees F (about -11 C) at 7:30 AM. The 30 mph winds didn’t help. Since the squirrels have been thieving, I had to resort to leg hold traps; heavy gloves don’t fit in the trigger guard. A boot can manage the sidesteps.

One can, however, grab a large wrench to dispatch said trapped rodents, while in the comfort of gloves. what caliber?… 35mm, box end.

I’d expect this BS weather in January. Shoveling wheelbarrows full of firewood through the stove (daily) is messed up in Nov.

That moisture on your gun is because it’s cryin’ to get inside.

Head shots were pretty gross so I posted in the hunting section , Did not want to upset any non hunters or bird lovers…

About 70 degrees here in sunny West Texas, Took out about 14 pesky Euro doves and one sparrow, I even took a picture,,,
I will see if I can get it posted ,
Mike

Eelect, you would have to remind me……………. :sadn:

Piece of cake. Just dress warm. Zonk always remember you still come back to the cold….when everything is said and done

Here is 7°C and will be less during weekend 🙁

Yes Ville and today it’s only 15 degrees here. But that’s OK We’re heading for Mexico in 3 days for 10 days on the beach. It’s only 90 degrees there. 😀

Snow ? You poor bastard …

Right now’s a good time here as we have snow on the ground and the only food they’ll find is over at the cattle barn.

They are mostly around cows, feedlots or any other food source with grain around in my area. They are not too many around either. I get most of them when its very cold because they don’t want to fly when its very cold so they will only take off when one of them drops dead. Hence me being out there in the bitter cold and feeding them some lead.

# one sparrow killer here, I agree sparrows are smart, All the dumb ones are killed out in the first nine months,
Now you got to deal with the smart ones, Any sound of my window moving and they are long gone,,, ( yes WD 40)
I got a lot of white wings here and as a game bird there are safe, A white wing will step over a dead sparrow or Euro dove to eat, But a Euro dove or sparrow will not even come to the feeder with one of its own kind dead,,,
No Starlings around this area, I can put dog food out and get the Grackles in like crazy, I know they are a protected bird but the fish and wild life people poison thousands each winter in the mall parking lots…
So how to I get the starlings coming in???
Mike

Fo crying out loud, I have never thought it was from my breath. Zonk these birds on this farm will not let you get too many shots away. They just disappear when they see my truck coming.
So I have to use my truck as a decoy and get in behind a pile of bales and then I am able to get a few of them.
Sparrows are even smarter than starlings.
Ps you guys are bored out of your mind, so stop writing crap on forum and get out reduce the sparrow population!
