Q:

Condor 22 vs 25 24" barrel. Which do you prefer and why

I have the 22 but am thinking of upgrading to the .25 for more power and being more pellet friendly accuracy wise.

I like the .25 for deflecting wind better.

I have gotten some 1/2″ groups out of the Condor .22 barrel with 5.51 H&N Match Baracuda’s at 75 yards but i still think I will pick up the .25 barrel for more power and better choice of pellets. The .25 barrels seem to love Predators and I like them for the hunting I do most of the time. I got asquirrel with Stubby at 87 yards with the .25 barrel for my personal record from the roof of my Honda and a sparrow out of the dead tree up my back hill in the woods at 78 yards from my BR. The Predators really makes them puff even at that range and that wallop noise is remarkable. Predators seem to do well more velocity but still subsonic.

I find it hard to not grab Stubby for most of my shooting too.

on 10 with the 22 talondor I put together with 28.5 grain EJ pellets I get 54 Foot pounds of energy with the 24 inch barrel. Accuracy is as good as it gets for hunting.
On the 25 caliber stubby I get the same foot pounds with a 43 grain EJ pellet, and the groups are competitive.
So a stubby is more compac to carry in the woods, and is the best in the brush.
Now the 25 caliber 24 inch barrel is a differant animal, looking at 90 foot pounds + exelant accuracy out to 45 yards.
So either one is good for hunting.
The stubby 25 is my Pet, but the 22 Talondor or My 22 condor I bought from PA, or the 22 Talondor TT or my Tallon ss 22. Heck just depends on which one is closest to me at the time 😀

I have 3 .22 barrels, and 2 .25 barrels and 2 AF frames.

Both frames contain .25 barrels.

In my case, I get better accuracy and flatter trajectory. Wind isn’t a problem unless its really gusting.

Your results will vary probably, but my best pellet is the Benji domed. A very close tie is the JSB King, followed by the Kodiak in the 22″ barrel. I give the nod to the Benji cuz they seem to hit more often at longer ranges. I never have that “What if?” feeling shooting them.

In the 17″ barrel, Kings followed by Benjis for most work, but this ones great for close work with Jerrys slugs. Anything within 60 yards is just dead. I haven’t shot enough of them to verify longer range capability, but I see no reason to doubt them.

Ive yet to try the predator as I don’t see the need personally.

Yes to upgrade to a .25 barrel you only need the barrel. The R&L 22 shroud is also the .25 shroud so no change is needed if you got it from R&L. The Condor hammer and Hi-flo tank is fine.

you can fit a .25 directly to to a regular condor no prob, you will probably see a power increase, slight fps decrease…accuracy depends on pellet…there are 3 now that are good…the jsb king, predator, kodiak

can your ldc be fittet…depends whats the hole size…lots of ldc are bored to .308 and would therefor easily accommodate a .25…but if you have one with tighter tolerances it might not work….

mount your ldc on your .25 when looking through the barrel, you should not see the edges of the ldc unless you not looking down the bore centered, if a full circle is seen when ldc is mounted its possible that either you have a really long ldc or its too narrow work with .25..if a half moon is seen your ldc is off center and needs to me mounted on straight

another method is to get a .25 wooden dowel…push into barrel and see if ldc is perfectly aligned

last …just shoot and look for traces of pellet hitting the baffles and end caps (turn down power if you try this to minimize damage

boring out the ldc is not as easy and pushing a .308 drill through, this usually just ends up make an oval hole in the baffel…best is to have them machined….or take a series of drill bits and open the hole up bit by bit until you arrive at the wanted size

and if i have a stock condor with hi-flo valve and standard hammer it’s sufficient to buy only a .25 barrel and instal it?… do i need smth more? and what about the silencer… the silencer for .22 barrel will fit a .25 barrel?(i suppose not)

If you have a stock Talon you will want at least the Condor hammer and hi-flo tank/valve with the .25 barrel.

Also if it changes ,do we have to change only the barrel? How about valve and hammer?
