condor .25 for predators
Okay, I have decided that the Condor SS in 25 caliber will fit my needs nicely,from what I’ve read with a few mods it should be perfectly capable of killing coyotes out to 50 yards. I am really intrigued with some of the heavier pellets, I think that they are called “slugs” , I am trying to avoid a barrel swap, what other type of modifications what I need to run these heavier pellets? Are there any of these heavier slugs usable without swapping my barrel out ? One of the big factors for me choosing the Condor ss is the super silent Factor. How adversely would these heavier weight projectiles effect the super silent feature on this rifle?

There’s an ongoing effort, in an early stage, to produce a replacement for “Jerry’s” slugs, since Jerry threw in the towel on producing reasonably priced slugs. That’s the only option for now. I’m working on modifying Eun Jin 43grn slugs to 52 grains. So far, so good, but the season of the hellwind came early and so it’ll be a while, and it’s probably a silly idea anyway. I’ve got another wicked idea in mind, but at roughly $1k just to experiment, that’s going nowhere, at least until I see how the Jerry’s replacement works out.
So, for now, EJs are the only option for a stock choked barrel. As for noise, higher volume and higher pressure both increase the pop. I don’t know about the stock SS. I’ve got the short TT shroud extension in addition to the stock Sound-loc. All I hear is the action, even though it is equivalent to a center fire powder burner with baffles removed.
As for a barrel swap, it’s a pretty slippery slope toward major modifications. My TT AAA Condor is about as far as you can go with the stock design. To get acceptable velocity above 55-60grn, you’re looking at pretty much reengineering the power plant. Don’t take this as revealed truth, since there are a lot of variables involved, but it’s a starting place. My Condor is riding the edge to give 100fpe with an 18 inch barrel (stock length for SS). That’s plenty for a 50yd gun, which is what I want. I can turn it down and get awesome performance with JSBs or Predators. Most of the .257 crowd are shooting out (well) past a hundred yards. For your purposes, the SS should be fine with reasonable modification.
I got faith the slug problem will be resolved fairly soon. Some really capable people are looking into the problem. Score an SS and join the fray. It’s fun if nothing else.

Is that with a stock barrel? What other kinds of mods are we talking about ?
