Q:

Condor .25 stepping up

First I’d like to say thanks to this forum. I’ve been reading here for the last couple weeks, lots of enthusiasm and good information. I’m still kind of trying to find my way around here. I’m not sure if this is the right place for my post/question. Moderators feel free to move, if need it.
I’ve been flirting with AF air guns since I started shoot less them a year ago. To be honest, the look was the biggest reason I didn’t get one. I’m more into the old wood style. But, AF has been growing on me. I have a AA S510 in .22, and a M-rod in .25. And very happy with both. The versatility of the AF was what made me go for one. I didn’t really know about their “versatility” till I start to go deeper in this forum. Damn… so many thing you can modify. It’s overwhelming.
I like to work on my springers and my M-rod, but I’m still learning. So, I decided to pay the extra buck, and save myself some time in the learning curve, and ordered a Condor 24″ .25 from Tony. He’ll install 95gr hammer, top hat, shroud it, and do his thing to tune her up. In our previous conversation, we set for shooting JSBs. I’m planning to shoot her for a while like that. The thing is, tuned for JSBs she will not be much different then my M-rod, maybe 10 FPE or so more powerful. Eventually, I want tune her to shoot slugs and reach 100 FPE. I’m obsessed with long range.
So… here it goes… latter on, when I’m ready for, in order to start to mod her to shoot slugs, what do I need to do..?
I know about custom barrels, heavier hammers and springs, modified valves… Instead going changing everything at once, can I start shooting slugs with my chocked stock barrel..? which slugs..? I sent Jerry a PM, and he replied saying they are no longer making them. What is the step by step into the right path..?
I hope I explained myself properly.
The rifle will take a while to arrive, and even longer for me to start to mess with her. For now I’m just trying to get ahead and educate myself.
Thank you
G.

Yeah, I know Jerry no longer make slugs. So, for now, nothing we can do…
If I understand right, in order to go “bigger” I’ll need a .257 barrel, and probably a new valve. What about spring..? I’m not sure if Tony will replace the stock spring on mine, I’ll talk to him, of course.
So, new barrel, new valve…and then finding the right adjustment for the top hat …?

slugs = bullets don’t mix well with chokes. Jerrys slugs were the only ones that showed a lot of promise. Sadly, Jerry closed up shop. Dyotat100 is playing with mold now. Hopefully it will be a winner. Most of us have given up and switched to a .257 TJ barrel that has the proper twist and no choke. It works a LOT better!

At this time we have not found any .25 slugs, I believe someone will make them soon. It would be nice, but for now nothing, except you maybe able to put a leed in and cut the choke off the barrel, but don’t do that until there is a good supply of slugs.
