Condor accuracy problems
Howdy. I have a .25 cal. condor that I just started shooting. I have on it a Talon Tunes QCTH, Hammer with slap mod, The tank spacer and moderator. At 30 yards with H&N Baracuda 31gr. it shoots a10″ 11 shot group. trying to upload pix, not sure if it will post. Power wheel at 12, small orifice in tophat with 3000 psi starting pressure. Over the chrony, it is about 850fps. I have tried different pellets and different settings. I have change scopes and rings also.The best group was 4″ at 30 yards. I am also shooting off a Caldwell Lead Sled. The best group was shot off of a sand bag. I am wondering if I should put this thing back to stock and see what it does.? Any pointers where to start with this thing would be greatly appreciated. Tom

Thanks for all the replies. I took the gun apart, cleaned the barrel, checked the crown on te muzzle and checked theorings on the bolt. All that looked good. I decided to put the orginal tophat back in and removed the moderator. The only thing that is not stock is the hammer and Talon Tunes tank spacer. I can not get out to the range till next weekend. I am chomping at the bit to get this thing shooting accurately.
I fully agree with Wildfire, something else that cost me a 100m comp title was during the comp I manage to borrow a Caldwell rest. After testing my rifle minutes before the competition, I was convinced I would get 1st place but once I fired my second shot, I knew something was very wrong.
Airforce rifles don’t want to be benched-too light probably- the recoil when shooting off a solid bench really messes up your groups.
In .25 recoil would be even worse. Try shooting off a bipod and let the rifle recoil freely-directly backwards.
Also take the tank off and look through the barrel, if you can see the muzzle end of your shroud then you could definitely have clipping issues.

10″ ( or even 4″ ) at 30 yards sounds like a “clipping issue. Shoot it with the moderator OFF and see what happens.

Yes take it off, it could be clipping for sure
Often it is loose bushings, loose top hat, hammer chatter, bad scope, bad crown
Check all of it.
Howdy. Thank you for that link. Some of it I do or have done. I will go through each step. I thought that I should take the Moderator off and see if that was it or part of it. at least it gives me more ideas. Tom

Howdy. I tried both inserts with the wheel at lower settings and higher settings. the only thing that i did not try was without the insert. I tried JSB Exact kings also. I cleaned the barrel when I first got the gun. I pulled the Hammer out and made sure that it was assembled correctly also. I just read today about deburring the frame where the Hammer rides, that sometimes there are burrs. I would not think that burrs would have that dramatic effect, I could be wrong. The one thing that I did notice, is that both scopes, redfield 3X9 and Simmons ATec 6.5X20, the up elevation adjustment is maxed out when on this gun. The Redfield had Burris low rings on it and the Simmons has BKL (Mid height?) rings. I was planning on buying a Hawke Airmax 4-16X56 scope and elevation adjustable rings. I don’t necessarily think that it is an optics issue. Tom
Have you tried the other insert? Have you cleaned the barrel? All else fails disassemble/inspect/reassemble.. Try a JSB pellet too. Start at 2800 fill too.

Howdy. This is a 8 shot group at 30 yards now that the moderator was removed. I also put the original tophat back in it. The shot that was about 2.5″ low was my 4th shot. when I squeezed the trigger, there was a weak puff and the shot went low. I thought something broke. I kept shooting and the pellets landed back into the group. I will have to Talk with Talon Tunes and see If he can help me. I am happy. This is something that I can work with.
