condor adjustment
Guys, so, i really don’t understand what these adjustment number dials mean, i dont have a chrony either….
however, how would you dial your condor when you are shooting pellets weighing 21.14 grains? Would the condor still be able to maintain good accuracy shooting 14.3 grains if u dial it right? at what numbers??? thank you soooo much!!!

That Condor has a high flow valve on it, and it is high flow.
The best you can do is in the lower settings,almost every one I haveseen or herd of shoots best from a 3 on the setting and lower.
Going higher just makes it louder.
I can put the shroud on my Condor and it will hiss like a Daisy Red Ryder, but even with the shroud on and settinf it to 10 or above with the same pellets it cracks like a 22 rifle, cause it is breaking the speed of sound, and you also loose accuracy.
So use the rule of thumb and start with Zero(0) on the setting and crank it no farther than 3, thats all you’ll need in the 22 caliber. 😆

Without a chrony, you’re pretty much never gonna get your gun to it’s max potential..fact of life. You may get it “close” but with a chrony you can get it OH SO MUCH closer!! All PW work…they all adjustment the amount of tension on hammer spring…w/o a chrony though, you’ll never know how much worse or better any adjustment makes.. I bought my TSS new…gave $506.00 for it..Surely it’s worth another $90.00 for a piece of equipment that will help me getmy gun operating exactly how I want it…buy one, use it to get all the info it will provide, record all that info-then SELL it and get say 50% of your money back……I have chrony and printer, less than $200 for all of it delivered….I can find out what my gun does with ANY pellet , at ANY TH setting, with PW set at ANY position and ANY fill pressure……really a cheap investment for all the info it provides me!! Or, don’t get one, keep asking questions (that cannot be answered subjectievely, cause you don’t have a chrony) and never have your gun set for max performance….

Thats the best thing you can do. Be sure they stay under the sound barrier. You will know when you are aproaching iy, the thing starts sounding like a rimfire!. Keep it tuned down to the middle to lower end and try some different pellets. Make sure you try them at different ranges even out to 75 yards if you can get an area to shoot that far. these guns will reach out like you cannot beleive! There are many guys here who shoot thier guns enjoy them and never mess with them. Then there are the lunatics that like to screw with everything! (me too)
I shoot in to clay to check penetration of different pellets, adjust top hat and power wheel and fill pressures until I hear the crack! lmao
I do not care about shot count thats why they make scuba tanks to refill!
If you are just killing some squirrels try some different pellets and shoot away! usually slower is better with these guns, they have way more than enough power even when turned down a bit! have fun
thank you so much for the reply. I don’t really plan to get a chronograph, maybe just borrow one like you said…I just wanna maintain good accuracy so i can go hunting with it. would I be able to maintain good accuracy by just using heavier pellets? thanks again!
Really they mean nothing withut a chronograph. There is no way to know how each one works. some power wheels work great some seem to do nothing. Generally people crank that sucker up and mess with the top hat adjustment. All of these adjustments you need a chrono for. Maybe you could shoot with someone that has one so you get an idea what the changes mean to your rifle. I tried exactly what you are trying then bought a chrono and messed around after others told me there was no way to tell without a chrono.

Sounds like you’ve got Baracuda pellets. They have the best BC (ballistic coefficient=accuracy) of all those I’ve seen in my rooky year of shooting an air rifle. If you miss, don’t blame the Baracuda. Do you have open sights or a scope? With either I’d say to start out shooting at close range, say 45 to 50 feet. If not hitting the paper, start at 10 feet and see if you need to make any adjustment. Are you a new shooter? Shooting is a skill that can be learned by most. Breath control (not holding the breath excessively) is critical.
Once you are consistent at close range you can move the target out to 50 yards or more. At such a distance you could start to turn up the power wheel to see if your 5 shot groups improve any. No 2 Rifles will have exactly the same settings. I would think that a stock Condor would be shooting the 21.14 grain pellet super sonic (not good for accuracy) with Power wheel set at 4 or more. But, that isn’t necessarily true because to much air can also slow it down. Shoot 30 shots and listen for the rifle to get louder, if it does the air pressure has lessened and no longer slowing the pellet. After you get used to shooting you may no longer be impressed by the loud noise and decide to change to a quieter on shot one kill attitude.
Very important is what pump you are using? If not, consider yourself lucky. I burned up 3 AirForce pumps in a couple months. I now am delighted with a Hill Pump. Whatever, not all is lost. My AF pumps may have lasted a lot longer had I not used them for big fills to 3,000 PSI all the time while following their instructions.
I am using the same Baracuda 21.14 pellets now and even though they are a heavy to springer air guns, they can easily be over powered by the Condor. But the again, the can be more accurate than heavier alternatives. The experts didn’t invent the BC (ballistic coefficient) for nothing.
I am presently experimenting with a lighter Hammer configuration. You don’t need to go to that extreme to have a very accurate high power rifle. And, you would absolutely have to have a chrono if you do.
Look at the bottom of the Index for the sections on SOFT CHRONO. An old notebook computer and a couple long mic cables and mics may be your answer to a cheep chrono that does the job. But, you don’t have to have it to enjoy good shooting and/or hunting. Just remember, the crack noise of a super sonic pellet means loss of accuracy and you won’t be reaching your maximum potential.
