Condor burst disk leaking
I just noticed that my burst disk is leaking.
I knew I had a leak this past week, when I noticed I was loosing air pressure overnight. On some things I know this is normal to loose air pressure overnight, my ass looses air pressure throughout the night, but I don’t shoot racoons with my ass at night so that is no big deal. 😉
However, getting back to the Condor, at first I thought I had not tightened the valve on tight enough since I last took it off to do whatever in a never ending cycle of valve expeirments, but there was no leak at the seam when I did the soapy water test at the joints.
I had filled it yesterday morning to 2800 PSI and when I checked it last night before going to bed, it was down several hundred PSI. I removed the tank and put the valve assembly completely underwater and behold, a steady stream of bubbles were coming from the valve collar at the burst disk.
To make sure it was not just at the seam where the burst disk is located, I then put a dab of soapy water inside the bust disk hole and sure enough, the burst disk is leaking.
I assume Airforce sells these? If not and I decide to just plug the hole, what is the thread size? It looks like it is either 1/4-20 or 1/4-24.

Were still dealing on the house in the Philippines, but that will be a 6 month a year thing, I will come back to make gut piles, then freeze the meat and take it back with me to the Philippines.
I was asking which thread it was,1/4 20 or 1/4 24. I looked for a set screw for either size, but I have mispalced both of them.
I wrapped it with teflon tape but had trouble starting it, so I just put it in with Blue locktite, a liberal dose, and it stoped the leak.
Yes the 45 Ranger is a steam roller for an air rifle, compared to PB’s it bridges the gap between warm 45 colt revolvers and low end 45/70 fodder.
How are you liking that AA?

Sorry for the late response some work came up ” and this is a good thing” and haven’t been online for a week or so! AA is fantastic only got to shoot it once and it is a shooter, trying to get used to it with clip and all not used to anything but single shot! going to be a nice one no doubt 😯 I really like your post on the big bore you have! the Air Arms is quite a peice of work! I had a hard time making my mind up between a couple other guns but when Hoot put this one up for sale and I seen it I had allready typed I’ll Take It” and the send button before I even realized what I did 😯 😯 LOL!!! you know how that goes but it is all in good fun and I love this hobby or air guns, never thought I would get into it like I have but it takes my mind off of life’s not so good things that seem to be going on with our world! mainly the Economy, I woun’t get into here that is a another subject that needs to be fixed yesterday!! Well send me some wine I can send you some white tail venison how’s that for a deal! I would have to send next day air in dry ice but I can do that!!!
speaking of burst disk is it posable to remove it and put a fill nipple on it in its place? i mean i know the disk is saftey but cant these tanks hold like 4000psi easley because arent they hydroed to loke 5000. i figure u cant over fill if u only use your standerd scuba tank of max pressure 3000. sorry if this has been brought up im just to lazy to look it up. thanks all

remove the screw then hit the fill nipple with a bit of air to blow out the disc put a bit of loc tite on the disc then put it back in then put the screw back in i did it with mine and it worked like a champ
I have talked to air force about the burst disk , they would not sell one , they want the tank back to take care of it. all they would say was it was two pieces. i talked to the women that always answers.

Charlie just something I seen on your post if it happens to be 1/4 inch standard size for that is 1/4-20 and 1/4-28 just didn’t want to see you try and put something in there that was the wrong thread 😯 Anyway besides that how are things going for you, are you still moving from where you are? I did check out your post and man that big bore air gun can shoot it is amazing!!

Sorry just tightening it did not work. I sure wish you could just shoot these things without feeling like you were on borrowed time.
Try a little teflon plumbers tape around the threads….Good Luck

I tried tighteneing down on that hollow set screw that holds the disk in place. But it was as tight as it would go anyway. The bubbles come from between the valve collar and the set crew, actually from between the threads, and not from the center of the burstdisk.
I removed the hollow set screw and tried to get the burstdisk out, but it does not seem to either allow itself to come out with a dental pick, or to take a allen wrench in the millde hole to screw out.
It is times like this that I get so frustrated with the the continual fucking and tweaking that you have to do to keep these things up and running.
So right now I have a Condor in 25, that shoots only one specific pellet, at one specific velocity accurately and leaks like a 89 year old mother of 12 wth the giggles.
The only reliable Air Force gun I have,that works now time and time again, is my Airarcher.
And Airforce only has their answering machines running.

Hey Roach,
Often times when they leak they just need to be snugged up a bit. In a past life I ran a scuba shop and it was pretty common to have a few leakers. If you try to snug it up, just be careful not to nick it or damage it. If damaged it will become weak.
All the burst disks that I have seen fail just catastrophically fail and blow.

When my burst disc was leaking I took the valve out and put a drop of bullet lacquer, sealer, on the inside of the burst disc. I then put the valve back in and put a little pressure in it to push the sealer into the leak in the disc. Haven’t had any more trouble with it. Thought this might help someone. Ben
