Condor Dreams
So…after almost 2 years of looking at them, I finally called Tony and ordered a full power .25 cal AAA condor. 24″ barrel, all the extras…even a wokguard and ar15 grip…Can’t wait!!!
That was on Thursday, and I know its going to be a 3 – 4 month wait, but I havent had a full nights sleep in 3 days because I’ve literally been dreaming about the gun and its been waking me up every hour or so.
Guess I’ll just hit the grav and go back to dreaming for now… 😕 😆

Here are 5 9 rings at 70 yards. Plenty good enough for a Lizard-Lizard! 😈

My AAA condor shoots the 7 rings at 100 fpe. Many here agree that this is under powered for optimum accuracy. They would do better moving a little faster say 140 fpe which would be roughly 950 fps. This is just conjecture of course on my behalf and I think others here have tested them with “hotter” valves than mine so perhaps they will chime in.
At 800 fps I managed a 2.5″ group at 100 yards. I shot many 1.75″ groups at 50 yards so that would surely be “Minute of (insert your medium game of choice here). I think your AAA with surefire slugs will be Minute of Iguana all day long at distances up to 50. Perhaps you will get them to group well even further. You won’t know till you try. One thing for sure is they fly true and they are devastating!
Since you are getting a less powerful MROD as well, perhaps you should ask Tony to set the AAA up for straight power (less shot count) and ask him to throw in a couple Mambas while he’s at it, tell him 80 Grit said it was okay 😎
Up until last week i was using cphp’s (.22 cal) going a little over 1000 fps….took them at up to 50 yards. My problem is that i only want one shot instant death shots. When they are able to take a few steps after i blast them in the head, i feel like i didnt do a good job.
The .25 at 40 fpe is more than enough..60, 70,80, 90, etc….is overkill. Its not what i intend to use the gun for, but i know i will at some point.
A full power AAA .25 from Tony will be putting out allot more than 40 fpe even with the JSB kings…and since they have such hard skulls, I wouldn’t consider 70 plus fpe over kill. In fact, this is exactly what you need for clean head shots. My LW barrel is very accurate with the EJ’s , but I always considered the Surefire 7 rings equally accurate to the EJ’s. But at 50 yards you may not have the accuracy needed for head shot placement. 30 yards would be more doable. The kings should be good enough power and they will be head shot material at 50!
I meant to mention i also intend to get a marauder in .25 and have tony work on it, and that 40 fpe from that will be enough.
Youre right, 70 will definitely get the job done. Ive gotten the job done at 20-25 yards with 15 fpe many many times. With 70 it will just be awesome. Im really looking forward to bigger game with the condor than iguanas though
How far out are the 7 rings good for? Does the accuracy really change a lot?
Ive never gone over 21 grains before.

Yeah, that will make for some entertaining video!

A seven ring surefire at 40 yards and under, where the base of the skull meets the neck should dam near decapitate them. 😉
….. and the nect huge thing is you get to see the impact of the pellet on game animals, like slow motion video, 😆
I just recently bought a scope camera mount so i can take videos of what im shooting. Im sure ill have some great videos to share in 4 or five months!
Smeone else said the same thing… “hope you bought a shroud with it…”
Of course! It wouldnt be complete without one, and plus it comes with the full tune…
I do hunt, but only iguanas lately. I have a P-rod that i maxed out with power. It has an Mrod barrel on it, a heavy hammer spring, a poly tube transfer port…i still have to make the barrel port bigger and open the valve port as well. It will be getting a second airtube (made by Lloyd S., available soon, i cant wait) andossibly an airtube extension. As it is now, from a 3100psi fill to 1000psi, i get 15 shots.
The power is great, the shot count sucks balls…but with the 2nd airtube and air extension i will be getting 30-35 usable powerful shots.
I dont really need all the power the AAA condor offers, but i WANT it.
And it will help get those 6 footers at further distances…
Iguanas are a very tough animal to kill, mainly because of the small size of their brain, and its protected location inside its skull. Its like a labyrinth just to get access to the brain without hitting a hard bone, plus their heads are hard as hell, so even 30 fpe right at the skull can be deflected. It took me 7 shots to finish one the other day…all head shots. Aimed perfectly… The last one did it (obviously, why would i keep shooting it) but only because i was able to shoot through his throat into his brain. All soft tissue from underneath.
Do you hunt? If so, what do you hunt? 😀
x2
hope you bought a shroud with it, and don’t forget , your gonna need a gazillion pellets at first until you settle down a bit and the new wears off .
I went thru 10.000 pellets in my first 6 months to a year, have slowed way down now. I think i ordered like 1500 with the gun, had to order pellets in like a week, was used to shooting spring guns, never went thru this kind of pellets wth them, way funner to shoot the high pressure air stuff, its really cool to not have to pick the gun up while shooting off the bench, and the nect huge thing is you get to see the impact of the pellet on game animals, like slow motion video, 😆
Your gonna love it 😀

And a few 9Ring groups at 50 yards 😀 Note the 7ring groups on the right. 😥 Just like pellets, you have to find the ones that your guns likes! 😉
