if you still have the stock hammer that could be the cause. The plastic ends get chewed up pretty easy.

For max power I set mine to .93, but that is .25, my .20 max was .80, every gun is alittle different, my .20 now is set .55 for a long smooth shot count. As far as I know people with .22 have the hardest time slowing their guns down, but you already have the answer for that one.

I think you might be better to get an oring for behind yout top hat fender washer will not really do much but get in the way but you can try it I have been wrong before 😯

I set the tophat back out to where breech slide has no backwards forwards play when cocked. Top Hat is back to .082. About where the factory had it. I also went to ACE HARDWARE and picked up a fender washer to try behind the top hat.
And yes, I love fiddling with this gun.

That does not seem like much, but you might try setting the top hat out to where it is tight and see if that makes a difference.

It could be worth a few pellets and air.

Isn’t messing this stuff fun? 😆

When cocked and loaded, with breech slide knob flipped to the right, there is about 1/32″ of front/ back movement when I wiggle the cocking knob.

You have you top hat at what most feel is the correct setting, but is there any play between the top hat and breech when cocked and locked?

If there is, perhaps you are not uniform in the position you leave the breech/top hat in from shot to shot.

I have a ETAC on mine, and a Subssonnic bolt, it forces me to have my top hat further out to get zero play between the breech and the top hat. If I have any play between the two, I get velocity fluctuation.

The end pressure was 1550 psi. This shot string was with JSB 18.1 grain pellets.
This shot string clues me in on a few things. I noticed that during the shot string, there were some pretty major fluctuations in velocity. Even in the ‘sweet spot’ the shot to shot deviations are wide. It will be shooting three or four shots pretty tight and then it will dip down 40 to 50 fps for one shot and then right back up to the consistent spot.
Is this an issue that can be fixed by polishing the valve stem????? I have already cleaned the hammer area and left hammer dry per Tony’s instruction. Obviously the valve is not being struck with the exact same force everytime OR the valve is not responding to the hammer strikes the very same each time (pressure in the tank notwithstanding).
