Q:

condor ss .22 speed

hey everybody, i have a quick question. so i ordered a .22 barrel for my .25 condor ss. after installing the barrel i used a chrony to see how fast the pellets were flying, and the results were way less then expected. i got a low of 330 and a high of 430, with the average being between those two, because the shots were not consistent at all. is this a common issue? the power wheel was on the lowest setting. i don’t know what the average was for the .25 barrel, because i didn’t have a chrony before i got the .22 barrel. help!!!!

Well, I got my baby back! Shot out to 80yards today with no troubles. Need to get my scuba refilled. All is good! 😀

Hey everybody, I just got ff the phone with airforce. they ended up completely rebuilding the valve and internals of my gun. The woman didn’t really know what the problem was with it, but she said they sent a repair list back with the gun. Can’t wait to get my baby back!

I believe I didn’t put the hammer weight back when I replaced the barrel. Wish I had payed more attention.

From the chronied result it seems pretty flat with 20percent of jumps which also pretty consistent too. I would try to check the tophat first. Im not sure how far the gap should be but why dont u rotate the top hat 1/4 turn and a time. Make it from original position so u can always reset it. And also try take weight, hammer, spring, everything apart and inspect for any marks. See if any rought edges, and lube everything slightly with silicon grease. Upon firing, put a ply of tissue on the breech to see if any air leak.

Anyway since uve sent it back to af, let us know what they found. Good luck mate

Ummmm, I’m not really sure what I did, but apparently I screwed up somewhere when putting the gun back together, I asked airforce to send a report back with the gun, so I will update you when I get the gun back.

Probably too late to check, but it dawned on me today that this started after you changed your barrel out. Any chance you put the hammer weight in behind the spring (like a washer) instead of riding the hammer? That might explain it…

I’d be very interested to hear what they say the problem was when you get it back.

I have been talking with a woman at Airoforce for the past few weeks, and we concluded I need to send the gun back to Airforce, to have a pro establish and troubleshoot the problem. Thanks for the help everybody, I really wish I could have done this at home, but I think it is better to let someone who knows what their doing handle this one…
Again, thanks for the help!

okay, so i called airforce, and told them my issue. their responce was to try the power wheel at different settings, because they can be faulty at the extreme ends. they recomended filling to 3kpsi and shooting 10 shots @ power level 3, refill, 10@6, refill, 10@10, and chrony all the numbers to see if that solves the issue. i will try their recomendations this weekend, but has anyone else been given this solution, and did it help?

i thought he said the power wheel was on 9-10 and he was getting around 900 fps. i guess i read through the post too quickly, and didn’t see he was using heavier pellets.

my gun is roughly the same velocity at that power level. ??????? :confusedn: HHHMMMMM

Which posts you talking about? In all of your previous posts, your velocities were in the 300’s and 400’s… The thread you reverenced has speeds in the 900’s and 1000’s… Plus they are using very heavy pellets… Am I missing something?

I get what you are saying, there is a period between the valves oping off and the impact at 20 yards. I am not sure how o solve the issue. Should I send my tank or gun back to airforce? I just can’t find any reasonable explanation. 😐

Yep, that’s about 1/2 speed of what my .25 did with the PW set to 0-0 on a 2900 psi charge. You definitely have something going on unless there’s something up with your chrony. Do you have enough “experience” to listen to the shot/impact and get the feeling it is “slow”? At 20 yards, the shot/impact should be almost one sound. at 1/2 speed, they’d be separated by a brief period of silence… hard to explain, but hopefully you can understand what I’m trying to say…

okay, i was able to get some numbers for y’all. i have the .25 barrel installed, fill to 3000 psi, with JSB exact kings 25 grainers power wheel on 0 btw
1-428.6
2-388.6
3-365.0
4-384.7
5-380.0
6-366.3
7-413.1
8-370.1
9-367.0
10-398.5
11-372.0
12-372.5
13-416.0
14-357.5
15-367.7
after that it got too daark for the chrony to regester.
avg-383.2
is this an average speed for the .25? still seems very low. :sadn:
