Q:

Condor Valve

Been shooting my Condor (stock) and looking for more FPE. What if any, modifications should/ could be made to the Condor valve, or convert my spare Talon valve with modified Condor parts for better performance. At this time would like to keep it .22 cal until I put a few thousand rounds through it to get used to the feel. At the present time @ 20 yards with 21 gr Baracuda match & p/w set @ 5.1 cannot put a pellet through a golf ball (close though the skin is stretching in the back) but not in-out
Thanks for the input

Phat,
I posted on this today, reporting that I was getting identical phone book penetration with my new Condor valve as I was with my original Talon valve. Tony explained to me that, in order to get the Condor valve to really put out full strength, I need to get a heavier hammer or add more weight to the Talon hammer I already have. I ordered more weight, and I’ll post results when I receive it and am able to test it out. Norgeiron

It will be interesting to see the results

Phat,
With the 12″ .22 barrel, you won’t get as much power out of your Condor as you will with an 18″ or 24″ barrel. A lot of the extra air is just wasted. But that’s what you want for backyard Kaneohe shooting, right? Too much power isn’t good in a neighborhood setting. Norgeiron

Phat,

Please stop shooting golf balls. I’m telling you I’ve done this and it’s not a good idea. Yes, a center hit with enough power penetrates and gets a nice little roll. Less perfect shots have sometimes random and unfortunate results. If you get the “wiffle” golf balls you get a lot more action from a hit on the same size target. Make some ballistic gel for penetration tests or shoot putty etc.

Sorry to be a nanny but this particular thing is known to me to be a bad idea so I had to say it once.

Thanks for the concern! I appreciate the thoughts and warnings

X2 Been their done that. Hole in siding right behind my head, ball was 35 yrds away.

Top hat stock height .091 @ 2500 psi = 1029 fps

IMHO thats plenty fast enough. Want more FPE? Go to a heavier pellet.

Have some on order. thanks for your help, BTW any Condor valve mods?

Tony worked on my Codor and I honestly don’t know what he did to the valve. I know it works GREAT.

Golf balls, I doubt you will get a Diablo pellet to penetrate a golf ball, what you will get is a bleeding dimple in your forehead instead, pellets bounce back at you when you shoot at golf balls.

Try a different medium for penetration, unless you feel about golf balls like I do cats. And I can’t see why you would, I have never seen a golf ball piss on personal items out of spite.

For practical purposes, get the heaviest pellet you can shoot accurately to just under the speed of sound and you will have the most effeciant use of your Condor, for me right now, that is 25.4 grain 25 caliber Kings at 1020 FPS.

Stock Condor valve will send a 21.1 Gr. Kodiak super sonic. You don’t want that as it hurts accuracy. Unless you’re just after max speed and not concerned with accuracy. Max your P.W. out and you will hear the sonic crack. What are you filling your tank to? What is your top hat set at?

Top hat stock height .091 @ 2500 psi = 1029 fps
