Condor W/ R&L Valve Convert To .257?
I have a Condor with a R&L valve and just a standard hammer and .25 AF LW barrel. I am looking to convert it to a cast bullet shooter besides the Surefires which are pretty limited range and accuracy if it is possible and viable (I don’t have a ton of spare time). I am reading here that Doug/Dyotat100 makes custom parts and guns towards this end. Doug do you have a web site or sell to the general public or is this all very limited custom work? It sounds as if the R&L valve gets things only part way there since it is a ported hi-flo valve and there are better valves available out there? Then there are the right .257 barrels to secure? Hammers? Etc..? It sounds like the R&L barrels need custom leads reamed in them for the specific molds which I would just as soon not attempt? Anyone reputable selling completed custom guns anymore or the parts at this point to fix up a Condor? Is this a lost cause at this point? Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks

I kind of like them a bit shorter too I guess and might settle for 24″. Do you need to support the frame or anything with this higher pressure setup? (All of the discussions on flexing, etc.) I guess the main thing now is to get through Christmas and save my pennies again (I just picked up a 30 cal Standard Matador, scope, and accessories). What kind of saving should I plan for as far as just the gun goes?
Yeah somewhere around 10 fps.
The longer barrel let’s you turn it down for more shots. Max power would be around 1030 fps on 3200 psi.
I can get 1110 fps out of mine with 32″ barrel but shoot it around 1070-1080 fps.
I would honestly go for 28″ to really benefit from going .257. I think that is the best size. Longer is good but some don’t like the length.
Pretty amazing. I actually do like the idea of a shorter barrel (being a bullpup guy). What kind of loss is there from 28″ down to say Knife’s 21″? Is it the 10 fps per inch typical guideline?

I can hit coke cans in the wind at 235 yds easy.
Cedric has a video where he is shooting eggs at 175 yds in light wind.
The condor in .257 is just amazing how good it shoots. The more I tinker with them the more I’m learning.
I sent a setup to Greece and he is getting 13 mm groups at 100 meters.
I have his shot string somewhere and he has it shooting 10 shots with less than 20 fps spread.
Hey Guy! May-be I can help a little. Mine is only a 21″ bbl. that Dyotat set up, and it gets under an inch at 100 yards. Today, in typical Texas wind, I was dusting base ball to soft ball sized rocks at well over 200 yards while using a fence post for support.
I am sighted in at 75 yards, and I cranded the scope up to 16 on the turret of the Zeiss which in in inches. This would have been 26″ inches at the 150 I was shooting before I went back to the house.
I rolled a yote with a heart lung shot 😈 at the same distance a few weeks ago.
I have a NOE mold that I cut down from a 80 gr bullet to 60 grains for the .21″ bbl. It is shooting at 950 fps now, and still has one shim behind the top hat, and the power wheel at 6-. So there is more there. That, and it is one of Dougs .25 valves, not the .257 valve and stem, so it is nowhere near maxed out. 😯
It’s un-real just how much less the wind effects the bullets compared to pellets. Much less just how much less drop there is. It is roughly a little less than 1/2 the drop from 50-100 yards, and a hell of a lot less at 200 and 300 yards.

That is very good. I am guesstimating 825 FPS and 110 FPE left at 200 yards based on a BC of somewhere in the 0.16 arena (based on a 74 grain .257 round nose) and a 43″ drop on a 100 yard sight-in. Does that sound reasonable? What kind of accuracy is reasonable with that setup might you guess through messing around with things?

You need a barrel, bushings, 120 gram hammer, breech, and valve.
Once I cut the leed it is good for most .257 slugs. I hand stone it until a slug is a snug push in.
You can get 5 good shoots from your stock tank.

Thanks for responding. I think the trouble is at this point I am not sure what I want to have built because I don’t know what is possible other than scanning the custom postings here. I am a hunter/pest shooter looking to make my Condor frame into a viable coyote 100+ yard shooter first and then smaller game (raccoon/rabbit sized) out to maybe 200+ yards if possible from an accuracy/trajectory/power standpoint. What would you recommend in a setup to accomplish this? 3-5 shots would be fine on a fill.
I have airguns capable on coyotes out to about 50 yards now and maybe out to 100 yards on raccoons that I use around my house which is located in heavy woods and hills. What I am looking for is in the field where I coyote hunt that has more open fields and distances.
What are the options you recommend with these goals? I am definitely shopping for a functional setup rather than unnecessary expensive frills.

Depends on what you want to do. There is a couple of options.
I don’t have a Website. This is a hobby for me that has turned into more than I can keep up with right now. I can make what ever you want. Just depends on what you want to spend.
My .257 was my favorite gun but it seems like anything I build shoot unbelievable with a TJ’s barrel. My new .308 is just as good as my .257.
I just put a .25 auto barrel from TJ’S in my .25 and I’m still amazed how good it shoots JSB’s. I’m back to shooting pellets again.

Yep, have th4e super sear in it. I need to get in touch with the maker and get the adjustment screws.
