Condor wins 100m shoot from regulated airguns!
Hi guys, yesterday I visited a national 100m airgun match and guess what?
Yes, the condor won! Amongs a lot of state of the art high tech airguns like Dayste, Beaumont, Air Arms, Theoben etc. the condor proved once and for always that it has potential!
One important thing to say, it is not a standard factory version but an improved version tuned by a dutch guy I know from the dutch airgun forum. And I can tell you he will probably will get very busy now …. He has also modified my condor and lots of others to get them shoot more consistent. So again, if you tune your airforce products the right way, you can even get the same results as from a regulated airgun.

And the crown ; just take off a mm or 2 and then recrowne.
with al lot of attention and sandpaper(?) in the lathe on normal speed (not high speed)
from 400 too waterproof 12000 (hobby shop) and that is not used with water but with oil.
and keep inspecting it whle you are sanding it .

How did you compensate for the loss of the choke when cutting the 6 inches of the bbl. and re-crowning it?

first let me tell You this :
I did some work on the lathe for shootsafe .
I took of 6 inch from the barrel and recrowned it .
And we talked about the hammer weight and how the valve works and that took the whole evening 😉
We gave the valve a quick look and shootsafe went home .
The credits are for him .
He put a lot off time in the valve , filling the gun and shoot it over the chrony;
let the air out played a little with the tension of the valve spring.
Filled the bottle and shoot again , play al little with the opening of the valve and so on and so on .
We talked a bit on the phone and discussed the “what iffs”and the “if I do that’s” and than he went to his shed and played again a whole evening with the tensions of the springs and the chrony.
It took him several evenings and a bit of an head-ake
And at this time he has a few fine shots , about 10 are just wright , and after that he refills .
That was what he did at the match , and now hes still improving his rig !!

Ps my owne gunpower does about 60 shots at 30 to 32 and than back to 30 fpe 🙄
I think for The outdoor match you highpower guys should have the edge with some nice heavy fast flying pellets to fight the influence of the wind..
What is the best grouping you get with the Sam yangs or eley magnums @100 meters in still/inside conditions?
If you can group the eley’s you’ll have the edge for sure they have an very small surface area..

@Necrosis. Did you bring your gun to RJ as well? I did too but although the guns shoots much better I think it is not suitable to win a 100m match since it has too much power. I have been informed that the best results can be expected with ±30 Fpe guns. For high powered airgun there is a lack of match performance amunition. Maybe the new Drummen 40 grains pellets in .220 will do some work. I have a career barrel in my condor and I am now using samyangs which my condor seems to like more than the eley’s.
It looks that we are heading for the same price (smallest group).

There will be a outdoor 100m shooting in September. I am very curious what will happen ….. I hope the condor will win again but there are more good shooters with other guns. So it will be exiting to see how the guns (and shooters of course) will perform outdoor. Until then I feel proud to have a condor haha.

Hey, I think we should give props to the man behind the gun. After all, the valve mod or whatever wasn’t pulling the trigger.
Even with the mods, it’d take a real sniper to pull that win off. Good show!

Hi think RobJan tuned that condor right?
Make a custom valvestem with a transferport of about 2,9mm. Pretty high valvespring pretension. Light hammer say 18 grams and low pretension on the hammerspring. Fill pressure at about 180bar. That’s the basic setup for 30ft.lbs. From that on it’s tweeking with springtension and fillpressure and pellets etc.

I am using a paintball regulator and I am happy with the results I am getting but its great to hear this rifle does the job.

Hi I am the one that did the shooting on the gun.
Don’t think there is anything special on the gun or it’s setup, although she shoots very nice now !
During the match I just used an fill pressure somewhere in the middle of my curve to make sure I did not get an slow shot to start with (the beginning of the curve is pretty steep). I did my 10 shots and refilled to exactly the same pressure for the next.
As I don’t have any experience on 100 meter with that or any gun I do not know if my current valve setup is any good for that distance but I suspect it won’t have the same useable shots as on the range I tested my setup which is 50 meters.
The gun is an Talon SS originally with an 24″ barrel which I found too long to comfortably handle so Robjan helped me out with that and cut it down to 18 inch, what really got me to make that decision eventually was bad grouping @ 50m with kodiaks best was about 1.20 inch after a full day of shooting at the range (the rest was worse). at the end of the curve I noticed improved grouping so I measured the speed at that pressure and started tuning the gun down in that range (~950 fps).
Performance of the kodiaks is not good enough at 100 meters anyways and the jsb 18gr also do not perform as well as the regular 16gr jsb’s which I shot the match with.
As Robjan said the gun has given me some headaches from time to time especially getting an decent amount of shots, I got about 20 shots from the talontunes valve that was in it, things started falling in to place after replacing the valvestem with the valvestem from my co2 adapter shotcount went up to about 40 to 45 shots when the accuracy problems surfaced which took some tuning down on the power and gave me some extra shots at the right speed with the kodiaks.
Check the progress on the gun in my excel sheet where I stored most of the test data. I am now somewhat committed to tune the gun for better performance on the 100 meters so some extra tuning is on the way but I will first empty some whole 60 shot strings on target to really see what’s happening, The accuracy at shorter ranges will no doubt benefit from this as well. Besides that i can probably use some training on the long range as well as I have not shot 100 pellets at that range ever in my life.

Please note there are 2 other gun’s in there as well one is an old string Robjan posted on our dutch forum which I took as an example, the other ones are my friend’s .25 It’s in dutch but should be readable I think.
if you want some specifics on the gun’s setup most of the info is there dunno if all the tophat settings are accurate anymore I didn’t measure in a while as I used loctite to keep it in place and restrict using c-clips on the stem as it is easier and the stoopid thing won’t come loose anymore..
I’d like to flatten my curve somewhat while keeping the shotcount intact but not really sure how yet.
My groupsizes for the match where:
5,6 cm and 10,75 cm c-t-c (jerked one shot in the last group) both where 10 shot groups.
The best group I ever shot was 3,95 cm c-t-c for 100 meter at the range this was an 5 shot group and the first and only other group I shot at that range, it at least gave me the confidence in the gun to even register for the match 8)
Well that’s all folks I registered here because I saw the thread and wanted to comment, I’ve been reading off and on here though and got some usefull info here while reading I hope to do good in the next match as well and will try to make the gun even better but I am pretty happy as it is with her she is very nice to shoot! 😀
