Condor With Smooth Twist Barrel
I just finished up this project. It is an old school Condor fully tricked out with FX Smooth Twist barrel.
I am very impressed with the accuracy of this rifle.
Wokguard, custom trigger shoe, TTTA and tank cover….
Barrel was machined, custom bushings made and Cerakoted….
Rifle was shooting 1100 FPS with 18grn. JSB exacts. We had to use our QCTH with large insert to bring it down to 975 FPS.
Here are two groups shot at 55 yards with minimal effort….
Again, could not be happier with the performance.

Trigger guard is sexy.
FX has come a long way with their ST barrel. I have been hearing good things about them in recent times.

well, from the .22 blank I had, it was larger than 15mm, that’s for sure. But I think you have to sleeve it for a rapid which is 16mm if I’m not mistaken? I wouldn’t trust AoA to do the machining, I’ve heard they botched some Huggett shrouds… I’m sure it was Tony that did all the machine work to fit the barrel!
Did AoA do the machining? Or was it done after?
How difficult was this to do, can you give us more pictures about the process, perhaps pictures of the barrel bushings. What is the outside diameter of the ST barrel, is it close to an Air Force barrel?
And finally would you say this was worth doing? I can see from the pictures of the target that the accuracy is definitely there. I have been thinking of doing this same thing for a while now but have had no one to talk with about this beforehand. If there ever was a gun made to do this I would think it would be an airforce gun.
Really?! Damn… I didn’t know the .25 were in short supply… Yeah, I knew the barrels were pretty pricey, I LOST a .22 blank 👿 😳 I’ll try to find a .25. I’d love to give one a try- especially in a condor SS!! I have one apart I was considering doing a .30 conversion, but thought: If I already have a .30 being built, why build another? We tried to get a .25 with no luck.
IIRC the barrel blank alone was about $200.00 from AOA and that was before machining.
Not cheap.

On this project barrel was customer supplied.
It was bought from AOA.
It took about 4-5 months to get to me.
