Q:

CondorSS barrel polishing?

I am gonna polish my CondorSS barrel. It’s a .22 cal. I need some pointers on how to go about doing it. Do you lubricate that part of the barrel at all after you polish it? I want to get more even hammer strikes. I just want to increase the accuracy in my groups. I am also planning on sending the gun to Tony for a tunning. If I polish the barrel will that interfear with Tony’s tune? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!! :4:

I got mine from amazon.com along with that little barrel cleaning kit with the trimmer string “pull thru”… all works like a champ.

I get it from the dive shop where I get my tanks filled.

Seems everyone uses the divers silicon for lubing. Where can you buy this stuff. Never heard of it.

Your original “o” rings should be fine. You’d be surprised just how LITTLE material you are removing by polishing. I use divers silicone on my breech “o” rings and they seem to last forever.

Thanks Wildfire. Your gun looks great!! I plan on just doing the breech end of the barrel. What do you use to lube it? Also will the original orings still work if you are removing material from the barrel? I just want consistent hammer strikes for consistent grouping. Thanks for the reply! I’ve got a lot to learn yet.

If you’re talking about “even hammer strikes”, I’m assuming you’re talking about polishing the outside of the barrel. It’s a good idea to polish the breech end. I, personally , have polished the complete barrel all the way up to the muzzle. #600, #800, #1000, #1500 & #2000 wet or dry sandpaper. Follow up with a good metal polish and you have a mirror finish. After polishing, make sure that your barrel bushings are still snug with no play. Shim as necc with tape. Always lube the breech end of the barrel where the breech “o” rings ride on it ore you will wear them prematurely.
