Conquering the Beast!
A lot of Matador owners felt left out after I created the Cricket Shroud/LDC. Honestly, I have been putting off making one for the Matador because I’ve tried it in the past and failed many times. The gun is LOUD and I tried everything I could to slow the air or displace it. To be backyard friendly, Ernest set my regulator to 115 Bars and shooting 760 fps. In addition to that I had to put on Neil’s 8 inch LDC. The 6 inch LDC didn’t do much for it. The past few days, I’ve tried different stuffings and different can sizes. Even at 760 fps it was loud with the ones that I created.
Last night I had an idea and made a prototype and it worked wonderfully. The only problem is how would it perform at 880-900 fps. This was the range that people said that they wanted to be able to shoot backyards. I took apart my regulator this morning and brought it up to 130 Bars, after putting everything back together it was shooting 880-890 fps. Placed my prototype at the end of the muzzle and took a few shots and Wow 😯 I conquered the beast!
To those who have been asking me for a solution, hope the pictures make you happy.
The gun doesn’t make much muzzle noise anymore but you can definitely hear the spring/hammer slap. If you’re shooting paper in the backyard, the pellet impact is louder than the gun.
One thing that is different between this and the Cricket. The cricket you can dry fire and it will still be quiet, with this gun, so much air rushes out that it is a bit louder. Put in a pellet and all you hear is the hammer slap. While I was outside testing, my neighbor was in his lanai (10 feet away) I asked him if it was loud, he said no, can hardly hear it 🙂

Lol…I haven’t been on here in a while…I thought you were satisfied when you had that threaded baffle shroud so you could screw on your LDC…guess not! Good for you Donny! I’ll keep an eye out for this when you’re ready to sale.
Hey guys, I am assembling my team of minions as we speak to go into full production:
On a serious note, I am hoping to start producing next week or the following. Before I do so, I want to make it as easy as possible for people to slide on and slide off this shroud/LDC. Unlike the Cricket which OEM shroud comes off easily so you can tape the rear, the Matador as you know, you have to unscrew the baffle cover -> unscrew the almighty baffle nut -> pull out shroud and risk damaging the rear o-ring then wrap it with tape. That is too much work if you ask me. Also the .25 is pushing out a lot of air compared to the .22 Cricket. It will slide the shroud cover forward a little with every shot. As a solution, I will be ordering some nylon tipped set screws and place them in the rear. It will secure the shroud cover on and not damage the OEM shroud. If interested, PM me and I’ll keep you posted.

It’s hopeless to organize much when your wife is a pack rat and you have 24 years of stuff accumulated (in this house). I have to lock my large auto tool chest – from my own family or the tools will disappear. 😯
If I recall correctly, the picture of all your pellets, your shelfs looked like they were coming down lol. I’ve actually taken over the laundry room and Kitchen island. Shroud covers, bubble wraps and boxes everywhere. I wonder if this is how Steve Job and Bill Gates did it in the past.
I wish my garage still looked like that. I have a three car garage that is packed with so much stuff it looks like an old time hardware store. I have everything but can’t find anything without a lot of effort. :butkick:
Hi Awny, the bottom of the shroud is cut just like the Cricket’s shroud mod so that it doesn’t touch the air tube.
Did you need to machine/cut the tube to keep clearance for the Matador or was their enough space?

My wife ask me the same question all the time. The Matador has given me many sleepless nights. I keep thinking to myself, there’s got to be a way to tame it. I’ve taken over my garage and been through tons of pvc pipes during the testing phase.
