Considering a Condor
I am writing to request advice on the purchase of a Condor. I have read a lot about the rifle but I would like the advice of some folks that have already made the purchase.
I am considering the 22 cal. I see a lot of shooters perfer the 25 cal. Why?
I also want to have a shrouded barrel in addition to the long stock barrel for basement/back yard shooting. I intend to use the rifle for general plinking, pests and some small game. Is is best to have two barrels or just get one tuned that will work for everything?
I look forward to any input you have for a newbie.

I don’t think a dremal tool would do anything but mess up a good gun LOLOL.
When I was a kid I had a nice Banjo, and I wanted it to sound like Scrugs Banjo. I tuned and tuned and tuned and reset the bridge, and changed the Head, i done it all, Finally i found out His secret.
Scrugs played through a Mic ans they put reverb in it, No wander i couldn’t get that hollow sound, I didn’t have a PA set to make teh reverb sound.
Now I have 5 banjos and they are super good Banjos,,, the secret?? I just left them alone and let them do their own drying out and I tought I could do the same with my Rifels,, But some cleaner and polishing the gun does all it can do LOLOL I’ll stop there. Parts cost a lot 😀

I’d say with out a doubt , you are the best at explaining things.
I took my valve apart and used a drill and a bore mop and wraped some rags around it and used some paste and then cleaned it all out and smoothed it all up,and it cracked like a 22 long rifle the first shot on 4 on the wheel. 1180 on the crono, It went from the 50’s to 63 foot pounds on the numbers with 28 grain EJ pellets. It’s crazy how a little paste will do those things. 😀 Thanks for the Info.
Harry , you can turn the condor down to 450 fps, with 14 grain pellets if you want.and that is with my modified valve that will do 1100 with 32 grain pellets. research my post if you want the data, i have put it all on this forum for everyone that is interested. i really like these air force rifles , and i am one that is not easily discouraged, and am down right hard headed if i want it to happen.
I am not sure about anyone else but the lowest I can get my Condor .22 with only a 2k psi fill and the PW down to ZERO, is 995fps using 21gr Kodiaks. That is pretty well dial it down” (with hi-flo valve), but it’s still pretty powerful, anyway you look at it. I do use 28.4gr Eun Jin’s too which are around 945fps at 2k psi. The only way to really “dial it down” is if you start with a 1,600psi fill and shoot down to about 1,100-1,200psi. You don’t want to go lower than that. However you shot string consistency will be hurting below 1,400psi. I tested it through the Chrony at 1,400psi and below to about 1,200psi one time, and it was losing too much velocity per shot. I try to never go below 1,600 and shot/velocity consistency is very good, dropping about 3-4fps max per shot.
If you want a Condor for the higher resale value, or whatever the reason, you should consider a 12″ (barrel) Condor. It will have 15-20 ft-lbs less power and may fit your needs. Or just get a Talon SS and you will get the proper power for indoor shooting, plinking, etc. and more shots per fill.
So the only similarity between an AR-15 and a Talon SS would be breath control ?
Yeah a talon ss in .177 would be your best bet! Shit if you tuned way down you could get a crazy shot count.
Great thoughts here guys and I thank you for your sage advice. The Condor is an outstanding rifle but it may not be the best fit for my purpose. I am going to take a closer look at the Talon SS. However, I have not ruled out a Condor all together. I did place a call to Tony today and look forward to getting his input.
The Talon SS is about 33″ long which is just about the size of my AR. Of course the rail systems are different but still overall the TSS would be a nice rifle for my AR Aimpoint optics.

Indoor plinked as an AR trainer? Get a Talon SS in 177. It’s cheap to shoot, quieter, and you can shoot 2500psi down to 1100psi at 30 yards easily for 100 shots.
The condor is great but you will need ears for indoor shooting.
well which ever way you go , if you read my post , you can turn the gun down or do what ever you want.??? do you want a short compact gun or a longer gun.???

I don’t keep too many notes, But I was getting 50+ foot pounds with the dirty gun. I polished it up and get in the 60’s,,25.5 grains, and now the 2X4 is just another object down field 😀
However I did discover another thing, the valve I cleaned and polished up was an old style valve. It is a straight valve and not one with the taper at the valve seal. That’s as rare as hens teeth 😀 One stout valve, they need to go back to that type of valve. IMHO it is stouter.
