Considering a fixed power scope for My EDgun
Would this be way too much to spend on a 6x scope?

I hunt so I really don’t need these 20x scopes some of you have. I have a 5-15×40 Bushnell Legend on it now. I think I may become a better shooter with mil-dots if I stick to a single power scope.

SS is a perfect choice – the one I’ve been using for years on Matadors. However for my eyes and shooting at 100 yards+ I prefer SS16x42 or SS20x42.
For shooting up to 50 yards SS10x42 should work fine.
If you want to purchase the Viper Connect, wait for another 2 months and check with SWFA, they should have it by then. that’s what they told me last 2 or 3 week ago. It will listed under Optisan name.
I put an MTC Viper 10×44 on top of my Matador. It has fixed power, great glass. The sad part is they are not sold anymore in the US.
I said sad because I want to buy the new Viper Connect, an awesome scope in a very compact size.
AoA was the sole importer. because of logistic issues they stopped to import them.
I wrote to Optisan MTC if there is any chance of ordering directly to UK, they told me UK laws bans the overseas sale of any optic aiming device over 4X. The only way I can have one is to have a friend traveling to Britain.
So, let´s hope PabloUK might come to the US for holidays someday…
There is one on the Yellow right now for $699.00 I think. Sounds like great glass.
I am leaning towards the 12 Power Leupold target model after this last week, I have had two or three in the past, I once took a 500 yard antelope with one on a repro USMC 1942 sniper rifle I made, used the Leupold because I could not afford the Unertal.
I had my scope on 12 power most of the week, so when I saw your post It made sence.

That SWFA 10×42 always gets good reviews, especially re: the quality of the glass. It is also the one that Ed recommends as best suited for the Matador. So, naturally, I bought a Hawke. 😆 I wanted that big ‘ol 20X reticle! 🙂

2x on the swfa 10x, i have one on my katana… near perfect for the $!
Lee: I use the SWFA SS 10×42 rear parallax Version and my opinion is it’s worth twice the price they charge you!
The glass is bright with high contrast. The eye box is huge and so is the sweet spot. If your eye is behind this scope, you can see through it, versus the very critical eye placement required variable high mag scopes of this price range.
The rear parallax ring is smooth as silk without any slop/slack. Just the right amount of resistance to prevent accidental movement. The rear Parallax is sweet, very much easier to set then side or front AO? Side focus is on the wrong side for me! I set the windage and forget it, and am always turning the parallax turret, requiring me to awkwardly reach over top, the scope. Parallax turret on the right would be perfect for me.
The turrets have loud and crisp .25 moa clicks, and are hard to turn, which is normal for this scope. Should this bother you, just remove the turrets (3 tiny allen screws with provided wrench, for resetting turrets to zero. Remove the thick heavy White water seal lube, relube oring with Divers Silicon. replace turrets and tighten screws.) Results louder clicks and much easier to turn turrets.
Comes with a built on sunshade, plus a screw on sunshade is available, but not really necessary. Be sure to order the Butler creek flipup caps also.
You’re right the dots and POI doesn’t move, like a Vari-power SFP scope and also be very much lighter to boot.
These scopes are manufactured in “JAPAN” and it’s stamped on the bottom of the tube next to the turret saddle. They’re not made in Europe or Far east/China and that make em that much better.
Great under priced scope. A few others here use the SS10x, maybe they will chime in with their opinions.

Can’t speak to the quality of the scope you linked but…
I am one of those that has variable power scopes up to 40x on a couple of rifles. I buy these scopes because the price is right for me. I typically spend the first few shooting sessions figuring out what magnification on each scope works best with the optics and with the dots vs distance and my pellet choices. Once I find a balance that I’m happy with… I rarely adjust the power on the scope. You could do the same with you existing scope. Set it were you want it and leave it.
