Q:

Consistent grip for Edgun while shooting

I went to the range again Friday and experimented with different methods of gripping my Edgun .25 R3M standard while shooting groups. When I let the gun rest on its bipod/rear sandbag combo and let it “shoot itself,” I get groups like this one (the larger one on the left is from trying to shoot the gun as fast as possible):

I also tried pulling the gun hard into my shoulder as suggested by a forum member. This caused my groups to open up even though I was really focused on pulling the trigger straight back. It seems that the gun has a very tiny bit of recoil (not sure if my .25 has more than a .22?) in which the exogenous force I was applying (pulling the gun into my shoulder) was inconsistently affecting the gun for each shot and causing the groups to open up.

Does anybody else have an experience similar to mine? What have you found to be the best way to hold your air rifle? I want a hold that is both consistent and something I can apply while hunting.

Ok. I’m going to stick with holding it gently and see how I do the next time I’m at the range. Thanks guys.

To : keyser soze , Your shooting pattern looks more like you are pulling your trigger instead of squeezing it which will make your barrel move while
you pull on the trigger and make your shot group wider than it should be. Also , squeeze the trigger on your exhale ,if you squeeze the
trigger on the inhale than the expansion of your lungs will also make your barrel move and your shot will not be accurate. Lastly , never try to
shoot while holding your breathe , that will only make your shooting worse. Hope this maybe of some help.

I shoot the gun with light pressure. I try to shoot it like a mistake happened. The more pressure I put on her the bigger the groups. I also hold the pistol grip with the middle and ring finger taking most of the weight. The thumb and pinky hold very lightly . The Eddie likes to be caressed. Also find the sweet spot for the trigger adjustment. I think the .25 is a little harder to shoot than the .22

Shoot in the same positions that you would hunting and see what works better a light hold or a stiff hold for each different position. Obviously your not going to have bags and a table. But, if pulling the gun hard don’t work try a light hold.
