There is more to it. PCPs are really temperature dependent if the air is used as compressed energy.
Let’s consider the following scenario:
1. Regulated PCP was lastly used in 20C temperature. The regulated pressure is 130bar. Then you go outside and the temperature is -5C. Regulator will still maintain 130bar meaning that it will allow to pass more air while being outside (130bar in 20C will drop significantly in -5C thus the regulator will allow to pass more air to keep 130 bar). We take a shot and that shot is slower than the one in 20C. The same applies to all of the shots in -5C. 130bar in 20C is more violent (it pushes the pellet faster) than 130 bar in -5C.
2. Then you go home and the ambient temperature is 20C. You take the first shot and it is still slower than usual in 20C. However, the second and next shots are fine. This is due to the fact that while being in -5C the regulator established 130bar for that temperature but in 20C the pressure is higher in the regulated chamber as the regulator is unable to release additional air. It is able to compensate in one way only. When the regulated pressure is higher then the first shot maybe slower because the hammer does not have enough force to open the valve.
