Countdown from 2000
I saw this on another forum and thought it was the silliest thing ever, but it seemed strangely fun as well (kind of like being drunk, I guess). Anyway, the idea is to just count down from 2000 to 1, one post at a time. The only rule, I suppose, is no double posting.

Patrol Craft 1264 had 53 black crew members.
It was a sub-chaser in 1944.
The following is from the period description that is associated with the next picture.. times have indeed changed….
The crew of the U.S. Navy submarine chaser [PC 1264] salutes the United States flag as the 173-foot long escort vessel is commissioned in a U.S. East Coast port. As soon as they qualify through experience and training, eight members of the crew of 53 Negro sailors will replace the present chief petty officers. May 1, 1944.
