Q:

cp’s vs ultramags in .22

now that pa has ultramags in .22 i was wondering if they really shoot just as good as cp’s. for me cphp suck. i need to get somemore pellets and i really miss cp’s, i just can’t seem to bring to pay $23 for 650, it seems like just a year or two ago they were $14. but the ultramags are $9 for 500 witch is a real good deal. how many of you still buy the box cp’s after the price went up? i use to get them all the time befor the price went up, but i have not since.

my cphp’s are real small the head is real loose, i just measured 10 and got head size of .199 to .207 and skirt from .217 to .218 witch for my barrel is real small. and i just measured some box cp’s and got .214-.215 head and .218 to.220 for skirt. now the head on the cphp are more rounded behind the head to the skirt and regular cps have more of a lip. i have read that benjamin hp’s are diffrent than cphp’s will someone measure some if they have them or let use know if they are diffrent the cabellas hp might be the benjamin type. all i know is my cphp’s suck and they are waiting to get melted down to make fishing weights

NO , not too heavy.

I would like to see what they shoot like for you too.

Like i was saying i have bought some of everything, when i bought the condor i had not had a 22 air gun before so i have bought pretty much all the popular pellets. and the cr hp, or the cabelas rename of these pellets shoots as good as everything else that i have tried.

I have found that some pellets are very specific to velocity for peak accuracy.

The only thing that has shot bad are the gamo ts-22 and a batch of gamo hunters and gamo match.

These pellets were sized very small,.206 for head ,.221 for skirt,

compared to pellets that shot well .214for head and .223 for skirt.

. but the gamo hunter is a good pellet for the most part . if the size is ok. i like them because they seem to mushroom more than the cr hp. and take game better.

but the jsb’s shoot very good with less flyer’s.

The main reason i tried the cp hp was to try and find a economical pellet that shot well.

I have not shot the cp hp that comes in the can , only the pellets from Cabala’s that are identical to the crosman hollow points.
I assume that they are the same pellet.

I ordered all the first pellets that i bought off the Internet thru Midway, where i bought the condor ,and all they had were RWS pellets, so i bought a can of each kind that they carried.

The condor was shooting at arond a 1000fps, accuracy was around 1” or worse at 25 y..so i thought dam this sucks.i thought this thing was badd ass accurate.

the worst pellet at a 1000 was the rws hp, so i just kept on shooting them just to be shooting .

Well i had just bought the gun and had no way to charge it yet,and went to the scuba shop to talk to them about a scuba bottle and they didnt have a used one. so i wanted to find a good deal or find a scba bottle.

So the guy said that he would just fill my gun bottle for free. so when i was shooting the rws pellets i just kept on shooting until the velocity went down from over a thousand to like below 400 fps.because i had no way of filling without going back to the scuba shop.so i shot until i couldnt shoot anymore, if i would of had a way to charge the gun i probly would of never learned that these pellets would shoot good at lower velocity because i wanted to shoot at a thousand.

The groups kept getting better and better. the super dome ,match and hp rws started shooting one hole groups at around 700 fps. i liked the hp for critters and probly killed a 5 gal bucket of stuff with them out of that first 500 tim of pellets. so before i bought other pellets i just shot these at around 800 to 850 fps.

So whats my point ? ,hell if i know

Just relaying some of the BS that i have learned .

You know some time s it is just fun to go out and shoot with out the crono’s and calipers and have fun.

Hey crow mike those new ultra mag crossman when you get them and see if they are the same size as the crossman hp’s and the crossman premiers. i get like .215,.216 on the head , .221,.222 on the skirt for the cr premier and the cabela’s hp.

They sure shoot fine for me 🙂 basically unsorted varied die lots of CPs with a much reduced cost 🙂 = more shooting.

Are they different from those in the can? Price doesnt really make sense. 8.99 for 500 or 22.99 for 650?
