Cricket .22 groups
well had the cricket for one week, had to wait for fill probe and scope rings, finely I’m ready for some groups today but the winds been blowing all day long, tried to shoot some groups in 26 mph wind, that did not turn out so well, so its 9:45 pm, wind is down to nothing, you guys must think I’m crazy but I have to know, so out came the cricket, set up target at 55 yards, put flashlight in front of target, 18.1 jsbs at 880 fps. 3 rounds at each target. all I have to say is WOW this little gun can shoot, only had about 175 rounds through it so far, unsorted pellets not lubed nothing fancy.

Following discussions on various forums around the world, I don’t think mine is special or any different from the others. I may be wrong…:wink:
That said, I haven’t found much difference in accuracy between the Cricket and the R3. But then I have only shot them side by side outdoors and not at longer distances than some 70 mts…..
I have no clue about longer distances, but my guess is the R3 would be superior to Lady Cricket.
To have a real comparison, one needs an indoor range where conditions are kept the same for both guns. Veeeery difficult to achieve similar conditions outdoors, – and indoor ranges offering 100mts shooting are very rare in my country…. 😥

Well that explains the very good reputation for accuracy with your airguns Ed. All of my PCPs (except the Marauders) have LW barrels but only the Daystate and Air Arms have polished barrels and that is reflected in their high level of accuracy as well.
The cold hammer forged CZ barrels should not need polishing like a button rifled or cut barrel but I wonder if your Cricket barrel Zocoloco
has a unique issue?
Yep, the point is that the barrels I order from LW for my guns cost as twise as much in comparison to ordinary blanks they offer to the buyers. That cost is higher not only due to the fact they are made according to my drawings and specification but also due to the special chanal polishing they do at the factory. No magic, just money spent for the details…
Thats interesting. With hammer forging I would be interested in knowing the type of steel and the method of strees-relief. Assuming they are using a tungsten carbide mandrel the interior barrel finish should be very good. That is one of the advantages of hammer forging.
I’ll scope the barrel when it arrives at my local gunsmith and bench it indoors on a controlled range. Hammer forging equipment is very expensive so I am curious about their process.
How do you find accuracy between the std Edgun and Cricket?

In the comparison between Cricket and Matador, I’ve found the Matador to stay much cleaner than the Cricket. You can see that easily when you start pulling through your patches.
Somehow the rifling of the Cricket barrel seems “sharper” than that of the Matador.
Also you’ll find more lead dust accumulating on the barrel crown of the Cricket than on the Matador. Has to do with crown polishing, where I think LW is doing a better job for ED than CZ does for Maverick…… 😉

I am really impressed with the reported accuracy of the CZ hammer forged barrels. They should also prove to be harder and stay cleaner longer.
Outstanding shooting and groups :thumb: I think we’re going to see a lot of these in competition.

I have access to a 100 yard range in a warehouse on the weekends and they have a nice concrete bench rest. I doubt I will be shooting the Cricket much past 75 yards for pesting. I have a friend with a two year old std Matador Edgun in .22. His Edgun is very accurate but we will compare them when I can get him over there.
We have a huge sparrow problem and I hope to use the Cricket in my sparrow quest. Most shots are between 30 and about 60 yards. There is a 75 yard dead tree where they also hang out. Sparrows are pretty small targets but by the looks of the Cricket groups they won’t last long.
