Q:

cricket and handpump

I used a hand pump to fill my Cricket for years. However, you want to use a Hill pump or one with a desiccant. The pump bleed screw often releases water condensate from the water trap. An output filter, such as a Diabolo or Joe Brancato’s is highly recommended, since the intake desiccants are not very effective. Keep in mind these output filters will need to be pressurized and will increase the amount of hand pumping involved.

Just dismantled the air tube of my Bobcat for inspection after filling with handpumps since 2013 (first FX turbo, then Hill). Puming average twice a month.
Air tube inside was all smooth, no dirt, no humidity marks, all fine. Reassuring as of the use of hand pumps, I had the same thoughts as you with some humidity being ejected while bleeding after pumping. And Cricket’s remark is right, it better come out than get into your gun.

Iยดm pumping by hand pump my cricket .22 and HW100 .177 4 years by now. During this period I have changed mainly smallest o-ring and couple of ordinary o-rings. Every 1 mount I put desiccant into the oven for 1 hour to dry it. Then pumping all mount again :biggrinn: But I would love some air compressor ๐Ÿ™‚ but is expensive ๐Ÿ˜›

The drier the better, it seems to help with accuracy also.

I use a room dehumidifier along with an AC unit to get RH down to 30% before top fill my CF tank with my Omega SC with driers on both ends.
Before which I used a Hill MK3 hand pump and a few others.

I’ve never heard of a handpump damaging anything. The water is supposed to come out, if it does not, it would be in the gun instead no?

FX pumps work great, they used to have an external extra filter for water but they Said it was not neccesary so they stopped making that filter. Although I think you can still get One with your pump if you are in a very wet country. Otherwise there is no need.
