Q:

Cricket Bullpup Cheek Piece Recommendations

I plan on doing a lot of shooting with my Compact 177 and was looking for something to put over the barrel to rest my cheek on. Have any of you made or bought a cheek piece your happy with?

As of now I plan on using the Cricket for this seasons FT competitions.

That is a sad story, at least you got a new barrel. Good luck on your future competitions

I used the Compact for a couple of FT matches last summer. My first time shooting FT I came in 3rd place with it. The next day the oring by the fill adapter leaked so I sent it the Georgia Airgun. While it was there Charlie over polished the bore. Could not find a replacement barrel so FT for 2015 was finished. I tried to use it at the Crosman FT event but it was not accurate.

Hofmiester Custom shop machine a barrel and keyser (Brain) tuned it for me. I shot it at 12 yards a few times then set it to for a tune, Brain shot some tight groups at 55 yards with Crosman 10.5 and JSB 10.3. I am looking forward to this seasons FT matches using the Compact.

If you’re a lefty like me, get a Vulcan…problem solved! That cocking lever on my crickets was (and is) very uncomfortable for a lefty. πŸ™‚

I do have the cheek piece that is made for the Crickets, and it helps though like most, I had problems keeping it attached to the gun… was always knocking it off with the lightest of touches. I used double-stickyback-tape on top of the receiver and immediately in front of the receiver on the barrel, and it stayed put pretty well, plus the little of bit of height the tape gave made the piece more comfortable for me, again being a lefty, the cocking lever was always an issue. :8:

Why not buy the original cheek piece ? The synthetic one (although itΒ΄s black ) is more comfortable than the Walnut version meant to the WN stock – the one you have. If you are more of a “function Before looks” kinda guy then the synth one will be the better choice. Better passform too ..
