Q:

CRICKET COCKING TIME QUESTION

I understand how everything works in a general way,,, But
Sometimes I cock my Cricket ,pellet in barrel and the little varmint takes off, So how long is a time to keep the gun cocked ? Just as a general rule I try to never go over five minutes . I will just take a shot and one of my spinning targets , Now you can say you can uncock the Cricket , But that messes up my white mark on my magazine to show me how many pellets I have left… Really just never tried it and really do not want to.
QUESTION Will I weaken the spring keeping it cocked longer????
Simple Yes or No will do,,,
Mike

Thanks GKU for the offer.
But I think my stock springs are still OK, Like I say I do not leave the Crickets cocked for over five minutes.
You sure got a lot of springs,
Mike

When I’m at the cattle barn I will keep it cocked until I leave. Then I’ll pull the trigger just to get rid of the pellet. No time limit for me

During pesting I would decock it after 5 minutes for sure.

Slightly off topic perhaps but does the cricket suffer from hammer bounce? In my opinion the hammer spring is really stiff and tense wich makes me think that the potential for wasting air due to hammer bounce is high.

The hammer bounces but very very little air is wasted on the Cricket if you ask me.
I’ve even adjusted the valve spring retainer so many tines with very little air efficiency gains to no gains.

The best way to make sure you’re not wasting air is to properly adjust the hammer spring just below it’s max reg setting, about 1/4-1/2 turn CCW from.

Gee, Mike nothing that simple ………. for me anyway 😳

When pesting I usually leave the mag selector on manual.

In time my Cricket needed a little 1/2 turn in so it probably got a bit fatigue from age, weather that is from leaving it cocked or just from shooting over time so if it does just turn the HST CW in a bit more.
But if you’re looking for a replacement OEM I believe this is it.
$19.18 for 10 of them but I still have some left if you like I’ll send you couple @ no cost, just PM me your address Sir ?
