Q:

Cricket hammer spring adjusters

Can someone tell me what is the difference between the one-piece HSA being sold at WWAG($25) and the two-piece versions at AOA ($45)? There’s nothing wrong with the stock plastic adjuster, but I just want to have the spring guide maybe for more consistency and prolong spring life. Thanks in advance.

I bought two last year from the guy who sells to AOA and those need Loctite or they back out slowly. Not a big deal but not worth $45.

I have first edition of knob from Steve and my goes back out slowly too. I do not care I draw with felt tip arrow on the knob and I´m controlling position. :biggrinn:

You said the third one is for the ‘rifle”, are you saying it can’t be used on the Cricket (bullpups)? Also the one you’re selling, I think it can be improved a little if you add the screw driver slot. I know it can be hand turned, but that could help someone remember which position it’s at.

the rifle can be use on the BP, there are a lot of different HSTA to fit your need. for me the thumb adjuster is the quickest to use—no tools needed. I mark the HSTA in High and low when in the yard, I can get the speed within 10fps between the two setting without using the crony.

i got the 3rd one on my compact…. its at ernest’s… hope i don’t have to get another adjuster.

Hey Ernest,

I heard there are two different types of hammer springs people talk about on there Cricket, is that factory and a better beefier replacement, just luck of the draw in manufacturing, or compact vs standard? I dropped you an email about a tune up.

On the left are old stock, then the new one with spring guide with Allen slot are showing up to replace the old one. the 3rd one are for the rifle and 4th the thumb adjuster for the BP. WWAG sells the #3, I sell #4

Ernest, what’s your expert opinion on the necessity of the HSA? Does it help with consistency and prolong spring life? Depending on your answer I’m going to buy one from WWAG (since I do not need to adjust the power down). I also like that it will be recessed and hidden. Also like the screwdriver ability, this way I can keep better track of how many turns..

AOA 2 way HSTA has more adjustment on the lower end when you have to much preload on the hammer spring will in able you to lower the speed where WWAG is mostly for High end adjustment (reg pressure limit) on stock spring it give it more travel in the action for more Compression. WWAG spring guide is longer.
