Q:

Cricket issue

Hi all,

I was just trying to get a little more speed out of my cricket and was playing with the HST adjuster but couldn’t get much more speed by screwing it in further, then just for yucks I backed the adjuster all the way out to check the spring. Everything was fine so I put the HST back in and screwed the adjuster in about the same amount and tried to put a mag in the gun…. but the breach seems to have gotten tighter and none of my 4 magazines fit easily. For the life of me I can figure out what the issue is. I’ve been playing with several things now for and hour or so with no luck. Anyone run across this before- the breach being a tad too tight for normal insertion of magazines, and when you can get the mag in, there is too much friction for the mag to index properly. And it isn’t the barrel being in too far. Just wierd!

Thanks,

Don

Yep, that hex bolt under th side cover by the cocking leaver had allowed the block to come forward a hair. Just loosened it, pushed the block back, then re-tightened the hex screw. Easy fix.

Thanks all!

Ay got ya,
blue lock-tite that hex bolt, if not it’ll more then likely vibrate loss again.

He fixed it. You were correct GkU, it was that box that moved fwd.

Don,

Other problems I’ve seen is that when grabbing onto the top of the breech assembly.
Some inadvertently push their check rest back wail pushing the HST inwards to adjust, and the mags rubs on the rest.

But in your case I assumed you haven’t ?
Fixes are the best when it’s a simple one.

You’re welcome Donny !
I was wondering if you got it yet, just about to give AOA another bashing.

Also there was a tread here on TAG about the Cocking block assembly (part # 44) moving forward into the breech making the mags fit too tight, but I can’t seem to find it.

Is your assembly flush with the receiver body ?

Don,

Looking at my Cricket, the only thing that I could see causing friction while loading is the pellet probe. Here are a few pictures

Compare yours and mine to see if there are any differences.

If you’ve never removed the HST adjuster or spring before, putting it back in could be tricky. I hit a a snag the first time I did it. You have to make sure the hammer is all the way in before putting the spring back. Checkout this video, jump to the 12:40 mark

Questions: Are you using OEM HST adjuster or HST aftermarket? I pretty much have all the different types and they have their pros and cons. I currently have Impromput’s version thanks to GKU 🙂 Also no matter what adjuster you have, you need a chrony. Screwing in the adjuster all the way in will most likely start decreasing your fps. So you have to know when the HST yields the highest FPS then back out just a little.

Here is a thread GKU mentioning Ernest’s tip:
