Thank you Ernest. If you ever set up a gun tuning service in the US, please let me know; your depth of knowledge is amazing.

The Royale 500, last I checked, was averaging 870-875 fps, which appears too slow, especially since the Cricket, shooting faster, is outperforming the Royale a lot in accuracy, using the same pellets.

I’m guessing polishing the bore is the first step, as that may increase speed before regulator adjustment?

Also, what grit(s) /particle sizes do you recommend for the smooth twist barrel (primary-final)?

Thanks!

I used 50,000 grit diamond lapping past.

keep in mind some royales are more accurate then some crickets and one of my cricket is more accurate then one of my royale….What THE!!!! 😀

I’m glad to see that made improvements. I’m toying with doing mine. Thanks Ernest!

To remove the regulator on the FX400/500:

The Regulator need constant supply of air, so there is no check valve on the bottle, so the bottle must be drained to unscrew it. shot down the pressure to 100bar to further drain the bottle is to remove the hammer spring and replace with a wooden dowel with a light hammer tap hard enough to discharge the remaining air, then you can unscrew the bottle then unscrew the regulator, same style disk/washer setup.

stable speed from 870 to 900fps, I put a high polish on the whole length and crown of the ST barrel on mine that made it more stable with less fliers at 900fps.

Thank you Ernest, for the post. I will try the same, since my auto/manual advance is not very smooth. The auto also does not position precisely because it clicks into place after the cocking lever moves the push rod forward.

Another question: You seem to know a lot about the FX Royale. I have a Royale 500 and need help finding information on adjusting the regulator/getting it out of the rifle.

I’m also curious, what the optimal fps/speed is for the .25 Royale 500, for accuracy?

Links for drawings on the FX web site seem to always be dead. Any information you can help with is greatly appreciated. Even single/manual loading pellets, the Royale groups have too many “fliers” and off-mark impacts.

Thank you.
