Q:

Cricket magazine tuning L@@K

Here’s another tuning subject:

Photo #1 without the mag oring, I inserted the pellet straight from the tin, the larger skirt or dent skirt will hang the one that pass the inlet will free fall and hang on the burrs on the oring grooves —> when push through it left a nick/scratches on the skirt.

Photo #2 here you see the finish polish on the right, now I did the same test–> the pellets that pass through the inlet just fell through the mag, the one with the larger skirt I push and had only minor resistant and fell through without hanging on the oring groove.

Photo #3 shows the polish inlet taper on the right.

So the purpose of this tune is to: smoother cocking and smoother pellet pass through without added scraping / removal of lead from the burrs, smoother pellets insertions with the taper inlet.

Here are the diamond resin burrs that was used: 600, 1200, 3000, and 8000g, and burrs to taper the inlet.

Yes, that’s your two mags— took about 15min per mag to polish

Hello Ernest. Very nice work!

I downloaded the Diamond Pacific catalogue and I have a couple of questions.

What is the OD of the N1L diamond resin burr? If it is over .30”, it looks like it would work great to shape and polish the lead in and crown on a barrel.

Do you use these to shape and polish a lead in and crown or, do you use something else?

Thanks.

Don’t know the OD of the large—> but the medium is perfect at 8.0mm OD and 22.5mm long—> you can turn them to what ever size OD to fit the smooth bore, and cut the angle for crown polishing.

I use a 8″ diamond wheel and have the burr on a Dremel to cut the OD down and cut angle, if you have a lathes that would be perfect.

here’s a photo of a .30 cal a long side of the polishing burrs. I use 220g to taper the lead in, then polish from there to 50,000.

I use 6 diff grits and have to cut the OD for each caliber.

thats what i was thinking because i have a full dremel kit and none of my bits would ever fit inside my mag

Where did you pick up the polishing bits?

Yes just enough to remove the black finish, if you look really close you can see some pitting that has black still, there is no slop or excessive clearance on the pellet.

Now how much did you polish off the inside of the mag…just enough to remove the black finish??..

Very nice, Ernest.
