Q:

Cricket Rifle cal 22 Incoming – anything to know?

What is there to know about the Cricket Rifle?

I intend to punch paper at 100y and beyond if possible. Please tell me what you know about this rifle. I could not find the threads that talks about the Cricket rifle, except the one at the YF, which I already read.

Any known issues? Expected accuracy groupings? With what pellet? Pressure fill range for its sweet spot?

Thanks.

I do not like surprises very much.

I have the Cricket Rifle in .22 & it is 100% stock. The rifle is a tack driver. I get 4-5 mags from 220 bar at 920 fps. I shoot JSB 18.1 and have it zeroed at 35 yards. I hold one mil dot over & drop starlings out of the top of a 120′ tree 70+ yards away. Easy sub-dime size groups out to 80 yards (max distance my range).
I also have the Cricket Bulldog in .25 but would trade it for the rifle anyday!
I will probably send the BD to Ernest some day but hate having to be separated from either of my Crickets for any duration.
Wonder if Ernest has a slow time of year when turn around is quicker???

Nice rifle brwndg !!

On the 25 cal BP it can be more of a challenge to shoot well compared to a rifle and more so being a larger cal at that.
I believe that here on TAG everything on the KalibrGun has been written and is the best place to read/learn everything Cricket.
Do a search on the 25 cal BP if you haven’t already Sir, it’s a bit harder to shoot well compared to a rifle but with time and patience it can become very rewarding.

Understandable, for certain, but in my case that would mean getting it .. then relinquishing it for an indeterminate amount of time… patience is a virtue and I guess I’m not as virtuous as I could be and would rather wait on the front end. FWIW these are well known as great guns and if I had it in hand, I might never send it off to Mr Rowe for the things he does to set them up and I want it to reach it’s full potential.

ymmv of course but there’s my rationaizations 😀

Yes but I have read a lot of Ernest’s post referring to and he even said, ” I’d wish owners would try them out first before sending it to me.”

I guess that way you could experience an A and B comparably difference and appreciate the tune even more.
Even after which one may need to adjust something and it would be more of a custom in doing so with some before hand practice/experience.

A lot of purchaser have there gun ship directly to Ernest without trying it out first even.
I’d try it out first and tinker with the HST after 2,000+ shots if your brave enough operate the inners.

Then decide if you’d like an Ernest tune.
Both of my Crickets BP shot great out of box, but after tinkering a bit their shooting even better now.

Guess I’m like lot of purchasers, mainly I am not as mechanically adept as many on these forums, I ordered a cricket rifle in 25 from WWAG earlier this week and paid to have it sent directly to Mr Rowe to tune it up. (I’ll be dressing it with an Aeon 3x12x50 I also ordered from WWAG) That adds several weeks to the anticipated shipping to me but well worth the wait and Ernest does things to set the rifle up that I would not dare attempt at this point.

I will satisfy my need to punch paper and varmints with my synrods until then. 😆

Get it and shoot it for awhile. Try JSB 18.1 grain pellets, the bullpup really likes them.

Grackle, I am referring to the long gun.. the Cricket Rifle and not the bullpup version.

Called Ernest, but he is tied up with work and the Rifle has to ship soon.

007, are you asking about the Bullpup or the long gun. I getting the impression your talking about the long gun and if so theres a couple Tag members shooting them.
Jk

Pay the extra and send it to ernest for tuning! This gun is great stock but it is amazingly fantastic when tuned! I highly suggest ernest. This gun can be tuned by a novice but it took me a lot of work and frustration. Ernest can tune the gun to your exact specifications.

Sam63 has one I believe hopefully he’ll chime in soon ?
