Hey HOOT how about letting the secret out about making the cricket the ultimate night predator .
Thank you very many! I´m happy if i can get mine to shoot JSB Kings 25+ gr. at 880-900 fps and around 55 regulated but i quess it won´t be a problem then. I know going past 210-220 bar (and i always fill mine to 200 bar) is just a waste of air – thus the original question whether there will be a respectable shot count from 200-210 bar and down.
You also only get ONE 300 bar fill from a 300 bar scuba bottle and every fill after that one will be less and less so the wasted air syndrome will kinda double itself. Have you considered the wooden cheek piece/paint option ?? I can write to those MWM guys in Finnish (my native language) and ask (or demand) them to deduct that Finnish VAT;) That way you could have a black cheek piece while waiting the synthetic version to become available.
I have one extra wooden on order but i´ve sold it to Mr. Zoco so the next natural choice – for you – would be the MWM Trading if the cheeky bit isn´t available/hard to find in US of A.
Somewhat depends on the pellet weight.
Mine, .25 Synthetic, was shooting at 950 to 980 fps when it arrived, and I was using 27.8gr Benjamin dome pellets. Using the same pellets, I adjusted the HST and got it down to 880 fps and I’m getting almost 60 shots per fill. All fills were 200 BAR. I’ve read too many accounts that going much over 200 BAR is a waste of air, because the regulator does not allocate the air efficiently at higher pressures. I would never fill mine to 300 BAR. Not when I’m getting over 50 shots at 51 fpe, 880 fps on a 200 BAR fill.
While your milage may vary, I see the .25 Cricket as a ball-busting, very quiet, high shot count pcp. I was punching through 2 X 4 boards at 20 meters, 880 fps, 27.8 gr pellets. I’m thinking I might go to 30gr, or higher weight pellets, to maximize the potential power available in this gun.
As for sound, I drilled six evenly spaced 1.5mm holes around the shroud, about two inches from the breech. That helped a lot, in my opinion. Then I put 1/4″ of closed cell foam rubber over the exposed air tube where the hammer strikes the valve (from the breech to the first scope support). It “mutes” the hammer strike by about half. Again, your mileage might vary…but that’s what I heard with my ears.
I have one more trick up my sleeve to make the Cricket the ultimate night predator. I’ll elaborate if it makes a difference. If it doesn’t, then I will remain quieter than my gun.
I have to say the Cricket is definitely quieter than the Marauder.
For what it’s worth, if you have any of the following for comparrison… The Cricket I received is QUIETER than:
My Benjamin Woods Walker Pistol, my Marauder .25, My Hammerli Pneuma with a moderator, and my Condor with a TT long shroud. The only thing I have that is quieter is the Hatsan ATP1 with a giant shroud on it. What makes my Cricket soooo quiet is the lack of valve smack, the lack of tank ping, and the teriffic Kalibrgun shroud.
While on the subject ; Which is the real – world span for the .25 Cricket speed adjustment? Can you really get as high as 930 fps and still have around 45 regulated shots ? Can you do this from 200 -210 bar or do you have to fill much higher than that to get to a respectable shot account ??
I was amazed how quiet the Cricket .25 is, no matter what fps it was shot at.
I have both the Maruader and Cricket in .25 caliber. The Cricket is much quiter in my opinion.
My Maruader shoots around 870 fps and my Cricket shoots around 940 fps
This is just my opinion of my 2 airguns, others may have different results.
Stan

I recently got into PCP and got a Prod. After putting a Jim Gaska and TKO on it, I still find it too loud for my liking in suburbia. Was waiting on the 22 Mrod synthetic to come out until I ran across these Crickets. The Mrod seems a bit unwieldy for balcony varmint dispatching. Primary targets are going to be raccoons that get into the garden. Max range is about 20 yards that I will need to shoot.
The size of the Cricket seems ideal for this application. Is the 22 as quiet as the Mrod 22? TIA!
