Cricket speed adjustment
I got a compact .22
was shooting 845 coming from WWAG… but i want more. I got a new HST adjuster from steve.
I got it shooting 865 with the adjuster about half sticking out. doesn’t increase speed if i turn in anymore.
where to go from here…. I would like to get it up around 910 ish. … It does hold a really nice tight spread at 865 +-3 or 4 fps.

Wow, at 865 f/s and -+4, that is very impressive. If grouping is less than .5 inches at 50yards, Id be very happy.
I´m not really sure i follow you on this but:
A – the valve spring is inside the airtube and can´t be adjusted with the HST. You need to dive in there …
B – i don´t know what HST adjuster you have but it doesn´t much matter if you don´t have the corect (full power) hammer spring
C – check so the TP (Transfer Port) is properly aligned = the barrel is placed right in the Breech. There is an easy method to do that so you´ll never get it wrong : Remove the front Hex head bolt from the top of the scope bridge. There are two bolts on top of it = remove the one farthest to the muzzle end. Replace the bolt (only for the alignment. The OEM bolt goes back when the barrel is aligned properly) with a long M4 bolt that´s rounded at the top (use a grinder/File/whatever for that) and screw it down untill it barely touches the barrel underneath. The hole goes thru the Scope Bridge.
Loosen those 4 bolts holding the scope bridge so you can turn/wiggle the barrel . There´s a tiny hole on the barrel and when properly placed in the Breech so the TP align the Breech/Barrel junction you can screw that long, rounded tip M4 down and lock it exactly there.
Now tighten those four scope bridge screws again – do NOT overtighten or you can actually distort the barrel , remove the rounded top M4 and replace the hex head in its place.
I could´ve made the explanation far easier with some pics but i´m not in the mood for Photo´s right now … I hope you understand what i mean.
That will align the TP holes anyways.
Where do I stick that alignment screw
We need pictures. 😛 There are a few types of adjusters out there now.
How do I know how much pretension I have on the valve? The HS spring sticks out the back about 3/8 inch. PIA to get the adjuster on. How do I verify the alignment? I do have that long thread piece. I use that right?
Check so the barrel TP hole is aligned with the TP hole in the Breech. Also – check so you have the right HS in it (there are like five different power springs in the loop due different regulations thruout the World) and also check how much pretension there is for that valve spring.
I tried bumping up the reg but I was only able to get it to shoot about 870 or so. Any more and the reg wouldnt hold…
Your right on the money Sirville

My less than educated take on this matter :
Every single rifle is a bit different so they need to be tuned to their best to achieve … the best. For me the accuracy is the # 1 thing – and only thing – that counts. Now – some barrels like 860 fps, some 880 fps and some , like mine in .25 likes 925 – 930 fps for best grouping with 25.4 grain FX /JSB King´s, about the same with Benjamin .28 grains (that means even higher speeds for FX´s if shot at the Benjie-settings) and even higher speeds for Hurricane Dildo Pellets (which in turn would nearly make the FX´s Supersonic).
I could get a few extra shots by going down in speed but why the hell bother when the best accuracy is in that particular range ?
I think it´s good if one is able to try the whole spectrum between 0-1000 fps when testing Pellets thus it´s a good thing if one is capable of shooting at very high speeds while testing. When you find the speed you want to use then it´s time to tune everything to that given speed since.
865mps is not enough? With increasing speed you will reduce the number of shots. Why is it good to increase speed at the expense of the number of shots ? 🙂
I´m using 860 or 880 fps and it is enough for every purpose :biggrinn:
Loosen 1/8th of a turn and try. Loosen as in “Open” = get more air out.
how far would one need to turn the reg adjustment to achieve 40 – 50 fps??? and in what direction (Tighten or loosen)?
Adjust reg… 😉

Sometimes the regulator is missing a washer and can’t be set higher than 120bar. I had to send mine to Ernest and he Sent me one that was set to 130 bar and that was that. But when everything is said and done I’m back to 900 fps but the other regulator would only give me 870 with Jsb 18
