Cricket $$ Tactical VS Wood
Kind of new to Crickets guys so a little slack please. Just bought a Cricket Tactical which came with synthetic stock. I do see that they are cheaper than wood. Is the wood stock really worth the $300 > or < extra. Not trying to start a problem just trying to find the reason. Seems that the synthetic is heavier than the wood by a lot. I did several searches on a couple of forums for the exact weights. Never did find the definitive answer. Thanks for your time, stay safe!!

I agree with Hoot. I have 2 in synthetic and wish they where lighter but I’d have them all scratched and dented already if they were wood.
BTW I bought my 22 uses with skeleton stock but got a synthetic for it.

It’s all about weight…and looks.
The synthetic is heavier than the skeleton stock. Not by much, but noticeable.
Having owned both, let me say that the synthetic is much less prone to scuffs, dents, scratches, and wear and tear from normal use. If you are a bench shooter, and a “safe queen guardian”, then wood might be the way to go. If you are a woods, pest, and hunter, then the synthetic would be best. It feels “warm” to the touch and is not a brittle, hard material, but rather a manageable, drill-able sort of stuff that holds screws and such quite nicely.
Spend the extra money on pellets!
I just placed an order for a .22 synthetic from AOA. I’d be willing to spend the extra money for the wood skeleton stock, but I don’t like the looks of the bulldog in wood enough to justify the price.
Originally I wanted the synthetic because I like the black but I like the lighter weight of the wood, for me it was worth the extra money for the lighter weight.
I agree that the stock is a matter of personal preference. I bought the bulldog style in walnut. I would have been just as happy to save $300 on the synthetic, but none were available. Some guys don’t like the bulldog, but I have found it to be very convenient when hunting.

As to if the price difference is worth it… Each to their own. I got the WB because the difference was only like $150 when I shopped around.

im a right hand shooter, but i still prefer to put the weight of the gun on my right hand. i shoot most of my target from standing position as i have buggered both my knees. the only thing that feels right for me so far is the bulldog wood compact. even in standard barrel i would feel the weight on my spine. yeah i know thats a weak man talking. For me i could buy another stock or gun, but i wouldn’t wanna need to replace my back.
all these air gun thingy is a hobby. and like all hobbies, they suck out our money. I’d say don’t think about the money, get what you like and fit you most. If you cant afford it yet, save up.
