Q:

Cricket Tune

Ok Cricket owners looking for some advice, been in contact with the Guru and i’m going to have my Cricket .22 standard tuned. I will be shooting 18 & 16 grain JSB, and Polymags and metalmags. Two part question how is you’re Cricket setup of FPS/FPE/Pellet and why? I’ve seen research that proves that pellets perform better or worse with FPS settings for those whom have power adjustable rifles. Also seen recommendations for 880 Setup being a sweet spot. Talk to me TAG i’m shipping the gun tomorrow but I’ve got couple of days to get him the info. Looking for guidance.

Joe.

Greetings. I’m a newbie with air guns and just got the cricket bullpup 25. My gun received the full tune by Ernest before receiving it. I am shooting the King 25.39 gram. I filled the gun to 220 bars and shot off two mags. My bar read 150 at this point. I see where zonk posted he is shooting 4 mags. At what bar level should I refill and how many shots should I be able to take with out refilling. Thanks

My buddy has a Marauder I think that gun is inherently quiet. I am as obsessed with quiet as Donny, I’m just quiet about my obsession

Oh I love stupid Quite.
I have a LDC on my 25 marauder and had my wife stand back from the target, I shoot outside the kitchen window,,
She said I heard a little pop, a zing and the pellet hit,,,
LOL

The MAN can tune it, I mean Allen Z. Allen will make the Cricket sing

He certainly aint gonna make that cricket sing at the tune that ernest charges……

From what i understand his work is good but comes at a steep price.

He’s not that expensive for just a simple tune. Ernest is a lower price but Allen is not expensive. The price jumps when you start having AZ build his barrel shroud. I am not saying that AZ is the way to go but it is an option for those who bought their Crickets from a different dealer than WWAG. Just for the record I am a loyal customer of WWAG. Allen Z’s barrel shroud is stupid quiet.

I had Ernest tune mine and he set it up for around 880 fps. It is VERY accurate at 50 yards and out to 75 yards. I’m also shooting JSB 18.1 gr. I’ll shoot 4 mags then refill, just easier that way……. :4:

50 yards indoors…
75 yards indoors

you be the judge….

Zonk, those are the most accurate 50 yrd and 75 yrd groups I’ve seen!
I hope mine will be as good.

Awny

Terry, that is true. Ernest works for Steve Smith of WWAG and will ONLY tune his crickets. As it should be….. :sadn:

Is it true that Earnest will only tune Wild West sold Crickets, or is this just a rumor?

I asked brother Exziver about polymags & Crickit on his YouTube comment area. Here is his answer.

“Okay.. Polymags for me are great out to about 50 yards. Anything further than that I move to JSB 18.1’s. For 2 reasons.. In my opinion the Polymags need a decent speed to expand and do their thing. So, at further distance they slow down too much to get the results they do up close. 2, they just don’t have the bc and accuracy that 18.1’s have at ranges out to say 120 yards. I also have a single tray and use it sometimes. With my mag. I only load 2 or 3 at a time because they will catch on the breach.”

I did not know there was a 2nd best with the Cricket? I am all ears,,,
My gun is with Earnest now going for 950 fps tune with the 22, I have not heard of the magic 880 fps?
I was told I would be getting 30 + shots, My Marauder 25 is shooting 892 fps and is good for 16 shoots with a 3000 psi fill .
I have also been told the Cricket has a problem shooting the Polymag pellets??? I could be wrong I have never shot a cricket…
I love the way the Polymag shots in my 25 Marauder, More tissue damage than any other pellet I have tried,,,
Mike

Hoping not to hijack this thread BUT, I am told Ernst only works on Crickets sold by Wild West. So if that is true, who is 2nd best????

The pellets you have suggested all perform well at 880fps in my Cricket compact. It the Guru you mentioned in you post is Mr. Ernest Rowe, just inform him of your pellet choice and he will make it happen. You are in the hands of the best tuner for your air gun, trust him.
