Q:

Cricket valve setting?

Hello boys & girls!
Was bored so I opened my cricket valve assy and found the valve spring rattling around inside without any pre tension on it!?
So now I wonder if any of you guys have the correct pre tension “value” for the valve spring on a std .22?

Settled for 1/2 turn in with a drops of loctite 242 so it doesn’t back out. Will take the chrono to the range as soon as the f*ing snow has rained away…

I found the same on my .25 cricket yesterday when I went in to turn it down to 900. I spoke to Ernest yesterday and he told me to set it at one full turn from just touching. Also note your velocity is going to go down slightly once there is tension on the valve. I set mine at one full turn, the setting range is from a 1/2 turn to 1 full turn from what I’ve researched. If your going for high speed you might want to set it at a 1/2, consistency is suppose to be better at 1 with less hammer bounce.
Mine had a lot of Silicone grease inside as well, and no signs of any corrosion with all the O-rings in great shape. Good Luck with the tune up.

Lightly seated against the spring then maybe 1/4 turn more to load just a bit… Worked great for me.

If you scoop out all the grease and put in fresh orings shot count can’t go anywhere but up 😉
