Crosman 760 ?
I want to get my wife a pellet gun. We went out to the range in Wallingford CT. She was shooting my Talon, and doing really well. So I was thinking of getting her, her own pellet gun and I think the 760 would be a good start for her.
Now for my Question.
Can you guess what the question is?
Can the Crossman 760 be modded out? Can I get a riffled barrel for it? Can I make it so it can be pumped up more then 10 pumps? Ect. ect.

new ones use a bit of Crosman plastic, crap wood…ect
used vintage ones crop up regularly in the $125.00 range sometimes less on the Yellow
worst case you have to ship it to MAC1 at which point he can do his hot valve mods and even install his “Billet” pumper for a total investment of little more than the new scrappy one

best of both worlds…nice quality of the old Racine guns Walnut, No crappy plastic with a MAC1 tune and build that will allow one to get serious numbers out of it
if the woman decides its not for her you should be able to get all your money out of it
the new one you will lose at least $50.00 at point of resale even if in mint condition
either are a bit more money than the 760 but far far better rifles
Quality not as good now??? That’s a shame… problem would be finding an old gun that did not have problems that overshadowed the better quality of the older one vs the new ones….

I think the Daisy 953 would be a better choice. It is only a single pump but is a very nice starter gun and around $80.00.
She wouldn’t get tired (both physically and mentally) of pumping it up at least. More shots faster with less work = more fun!!!!

Or it’s better twins, the 753 or 853 which has a Lother-Walther barrel, but they cost quite a bit more and come in a variety of sub models. $280-330 or so.
You can get a very good Benjamin Blue Streak multi-pumper for around $190.

Just a few suggestions….
not worth the effort in my opinion
if you want to get the lil’ darlin’ a MSP hunt up a second hand Benji or Sheridan…ideally something prior to Crosmans involvement with the companies
the old Benjis & Sheridans are much better quality than the Crosman produced junk
either are a bit more money than the 760 but far far better rifles
